Origins

It all began at Gros Morne National Park in Newfoundland and Labrador, where the story of Parks Canada’s red chairs started. Eighteen pairs were placed at spectacular spots, sometimes lesser-known, to encourage visitors to pause and enjoy the landscape.

By the water, at the forest’s edge

In Quebec, the red chairs appear especially in the Mauricie National Park landscape, nestled between lakes and forests. In summer, you stop there after a hike or a boat outing; in autumn, they become prime spots to watch maples transition from green to red, orange and gold.

The Cottage Spirit

In Ontario, it’s hard to separate this silhouette from the lakeside lifestyle. It is here that the Muskoka chair gained its Canadian identity. Placed facing a lake, on a dock, or at the heart of a Parks Canada site, it embodies both long summer days and autumn weekends.

Sterling Point

The series that’s buzzing with Muskoka in the backdrop

Available in France since August 5, Sterling Point is a series created by Megan Park. It follows Annie Jacobson, 17, who discovers that she and her twin brother have inherited a small island located in the Muskoka region, Canada.

The series blends drama, romance and a coming-of-age narrative. Several scenes were shot in Bala and Port Carling, in the Muskoka region, letting its lakes, cottages and landscapes become a striking backdrop for the show.

Mountains and Forests

With a View of the Atlantic

In the Maritime provinces, at Cape Breton Highlands National Park, the chairs face the ocean and the coastal relief. Summer invites long pauses facing the Atlantic; autumn paints the heights of Cape Breton in a mosaic of reds, oranges and yellows.

The Muskoka Chair: A Throughline of a Journey Toward Nature

From coast to coast, the Muskoka chair tells more than just a landscape: it embodies a way of travel, a pace, and a full enjoyment of Canada. For our guests, it can also become a beautiful throughline to inspire and highlight itineraries that bring travelers closer to nature and showcase authentic, simple, immersive, and deeply Canadian experiences.

It’s up to you to find the view before which your travelers will want to sit! And getting there is simpler than you think!
