Attitude Hotels

Vienna is more than its imperial palaces and its historic museums.

At the heart of the Austrian capital, the Heidi Horten Collection houses one of Europe’s most important private collections of modern and contemporary art.

From Gustav Klimt to Pablo Picasso, from Marc Chagall to Andy Warhol, the museum offers an exceptional artistic journey in an intimate atmosphere. A premier address to enrich your city breaks, cultural circuits, and group programs in Vienna.

Heidi Horten Collection – Inaugurated in 2022 in the heart of Vienna, this private museum presents the remarkable collection gathered by Heidi Goëss-Horten, as well as a varied program of temporary exhibitions. Thanks to its central location, its different visiting formats, and its unique architecture, it makes for an ideal stop for solo travelers as well as for groups. The museum also supports tourism professionals in organizing their visits.

An Exceptional Architecture in the Heart of Vienna

Located in Hanuschhof, between the Burggarten and the State Opera, the Heidi Horten Collection occupies a historic building entirely redesigned by the Viennese architecture firm the next ENTERprise. Behind its elegant façade unfolds a decidedly contemporary museum space: three light-filled levels of exhibition, linked by spectacular suspended staircases.

Upon arrival, the sculpture garden, laid out in the inner courtyard, invites a first encounter with art, away from the urban bustle.

One of the museum’s major strengths lies in its atmosphere: unlike the larger, more frequented institutions, the Heidi Horten Collection allows visitors to discover major works in a pleasant, human-scale environment. An experience especially appreciated by visitors who want to take time to contemplate art, but also by groups seeking a high-quality cultural visit in a refined setting.

KLIMT ⇄ WARHOL: A Dialogue between the Great Names of Art

At the heart of the museum, the permanent exhibition KLIMT ⇄ WARHOL brings together emblematic works of modern and contemporary art. Gustav Klimt, Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall and Francis Bacon share space with Jean-Michel Basquiat, Gerhard Richter and Andy Warhol.

Far from a strictly chronological arrangement, the exhibition emphasizes encounters between artists, movements, and eras. Unforeseen connections reveal new perspectives on the works and invite visitors to explore the many facets of artistic creation.

Accessible to both art enthusiasts and the simply curious, this approach makes the Heidi Horten Collection a cultural stop that is as enriching as it is enjoyable.

To meet the needs of diverse publics, the museum offers several formats: a visit with a free audio guide, private guided tours for groups or creative workshops in its dedicated space. These options are ideal to complement a cultural itinerary, organize a family outing, or enrich a corporate event.

Temporary Exhibitions to Refresh the Experience

In addition to its permanent collection, the Heidi Horten Collection regularly presents temporary exhibitions devoted to artists and varied themes. A program that keeps visit options fresh and offers a new discovery with every stay in Vienna.

Elisabeth von Samsonow – from September 19, 2026 to February 28, 2027

The season’s flagship exhibition is dedicated to the German‑Austrian artist and philosopher Elisabeth von Samsonow. Monumental wooden sculptures, paintings, films and installations compose a fascinating universe where nature, mythology and imagination meet.

An original cultural proposition to include in your autumn stays, programs around Christmas markets, and winter getaways in Vienna.

PLAY DATE. Play in Art – from March 19 to September 5, 2027

In spring 2027, the museum will explore the role of play in artistic creation. A topic as original as it is accessible, ideal for diversifying your cultural programs and offering your clients a different artistic discovery during their spring and summer stays.
