In response to the currently intense heat, SNCF Voyageurs has decided to temporarily ease its offering on certain Intercités lines. According to the company, this measure affects about 0.1% of trains operating today.
The company explains that it aims to prevent potential failures of air conditioning systems on certain Corail cars. Although these trains undergo regular maintenance, their age makes them more sensitive to high temperatures than newer rolling stock, explains the rail operator.
These adjustments primarily target daytime services and are decided based on weather forecasts for the territories concerned.
SNCF Voyageurs indicates that its booking tools have been updated and that travelers affected are contacted in order to reorganize their trip under the best possible conditions, with rebooking options on trains that still have seats available.
Customers can also exchange or obtain refunds for their tickets at no charge. The return to a normal transport plan is planned for Saturday, May 30.
