Happy Birthday, Futuroscope! Rebranded as Futuroscope Xperiences a few years ago to better reflect its new dimension—especially with the addition of the second water park Aquascope—the Poitiers resort will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2027 with a flurry of new features, starting from 5 December 2026.

It will be late 2027 before you discover the most spectacular addition, namely a new hotel that will join Station Cosmos, which opened in 2022, and Ecolodge in 2023.

Revealed at the IFTM trade show, its immersive architecture will evoke “a fantastical city where one could live autonomously,” enthuses Rodolphe Bouin, the CEO.

245 rooms in a futuristic setting

For the occasion, Futuroscope Xperiences has once again raided its coffers, with a budget of €80 million.

The hotel, situated near the existing ones, will be linked by a pedestrian bridge to Aquascope. Around a futuristic central atrium, it will house 245 rooms, a 400-seat restaurant, a bar, and a spa.

An adjacent “module” will accommodate a seminar space with a 200-seat amphitheatre and six meeting rooms. With this offering, plus the nearby convention palace, the resort hopes to eventually generate 10% of its activity from business tourism, compared with 5% today.

Futuroscope: “Magic Nights” to warm up the winter

Until the hotel opens, Futuroscope Xperiences has unveiled a program of events to celebrate its 40th anniversary with flair. No new major attraction for the occasion, but a few innovations that blend the future with nostalgia.

The most spectacular of these events will be the creation of “Magic Nights”, which will animate the avenues at night, from 5 December to 27 March (the park closes in January and reopens early February).

This nocturnal experience will reveal light installations along a one-kilometer stretch, accompanied by five floats and 23 artists, for a 30-minute stroll before the traditional night-time show.

The return of the films that made the park legendary

The resort’s February reopening will be celebrated with a new Imax film shown at the Kinemax (the iconic quartz-crystal shaped cinema). Titled Athos, it will allow visitors to soar with the Patrouille de France.

The anniversary will also be an opportunity to relive the park’s bold history over 40 years, with a new playlist in the attraction Dance with the Robots that will reprise the biggest hits from four decades to dance with your head tilted back.

The great films shown on the XXL screens, sometimes in 3D since 1987 will also return in May/June and September/October, such as Wings of Courage by director Jean-Jacques Annaud.

Finally, a new magic show named Imagine Live show promises to dazzle with visual illusions.

Soon new investments

This anniversary year is also a transitional period ahead of new investments that will be revealed in January, alternating spectacular attractions and shows in the park’s DNA.

“We present ourselves as a genuine amusement park, with bold risks that we will continue,” explains Rodolphe Bouin.

These future investments could be close to the €300 million invested at the start of the decade under the Vision 2025 program, which ran from 2020 to 2025, by the park’s owner, the Compagnie des Alpes.
