Know a Place Before Proposing It

A field reconnaissance teaches us things that a phone call or a description of an activity doesn’t always reveal: how long a transfer really takes and the condition of the road, when during the year a visit is most enjoyable, as well as the limits of an activity. We visit the accommodations, speak with the people responsible for welcoming travelers, and test experiences so that we can present them accurately to agencies. In Portobelo, for example, beyond discovering the fortifications, this ensemble of batteries and emblematic Spanish colonial forts invites you to immerse yourself in Congo culture, to the rhythm of drums and around local specialties such as the hojaldres and the carimañolas.

A Different Panama for Every Profile

For a family, we can emphasize minimal changes in accommodations and mix discoveries with free time. Around Bocas del Toro, a visit to a cacao plantation becomes a hands-on experience you can touch, smell, and taste, while a boat excursion lets you explore the islands at a pace suitable for children. The itinerary is then adjusted based on their ages, travel times, and the parents’ wishes.

For nature-loving travelers, Volcán offers another way to discover the Chiriquí mountains. The trails around the village allow you to walk through highland forests, with opportunities to observe many bird species and enjoy the panoramas. Depending on the group’s level, we can propose an easy walk or a more demanding hike, then take the time to discover the rural landscapes and the agricultural cultures that define the region’s identity.

A Destination That Continues to Evolve

For adventurous travelers, the Santa Catalina region opens the door to Coiba National Park. A day at sea allows you to explore its underwater world through scuba diving or snorkeling, in a biodiversity-rich setting with 760 fish species and 33 species of sharks. It is also possible to organize hikes in the park to observe its wildlife and plant life. Formerly a penitentiary colony until 2004, the island was long sheltered from human activity, contributing to the richness of its ecosystems. To extend the experience, an on-site overnight stay can be considered as part of a suitable circuit, subject to park access conditions, now classified as UNESCO World Heritage.

For travelers with very specific interests, a bespoke approach can go much further. We have thus designed an experience around dendrobatidae (poison-dart frogs of the region) for a particular request: it required choosing the place, the guide, and the observation time, rather than just slotting a standard fauna outing into the program. This type of activity is prepared with our providers case by case beforehand to ensure smooth execution. It’s the kind of project we enjoy building with an agency when its client arrives with a well-defined passion.

For travelers with disabilities, adaptation begins before designing the stay. We construct experiences that can be tailored to individual needs, whether it’s mobility, pace, or the way of participating. We coordinate in advance with the agency and our providers to verify welcoming conditions and possible adaptations, in order to offer an accessible and authentic experience.

For a couple seeking a luxury journey, the exceptional lies in experiences you cannot have on a standard trip: a private, passionate naturalist guide to explore a territory in complete privacy, a night in an extraordinary location, or a day with no set schedule. Luxury then translates into meticulous attention to every detail, high-quality service, and the hospitality of our hosts, all contributing to a truly unique stay.

A Destination That Continues to Evolve

Panama Your Way: Discover Panama’s Other Side

Before founding Panama Your Way, Leszek Glanas had followed a decisively international path. Born in Poland, he emigrated to Canada where he spent thirty years in Quebec, before settling in Panama six years ago. An entrepreneur at heart, he was already leading several projects before turning to tourism, a sector still in its infancy in the country at the start of the 2010s.

An entrepreneurial adventure born from a passion for Latin America

This passion arises after several trips to Latin America, a region that attracts him with its warmth, its culture and the hospitality of its people. In 2015, he founded the agency alongside a partner, Danny, of Vietnamese origin, who was also based in Canada before joining Panama. During the pandemic, Leszek chose to actively prepare for the rebound by acquiring another local agency, founded by French entrepreneurs who had returned to France. This operation broadened Panama Your Way’s expertise, strengthened its activities, and laid a stronger foundation for tourism’s rebound.

This personal trajectory infuses the agency’s entire identity: the perspective of an outsider who became deeply rooted locally, capable of grasping what sets Panama apart from other Central American destinations. It also explains why the company chose authenticity over mass tourism, built on a knowledge of the ground that has grown patiently.

An authentic approach, far from mass tourism

Panama remains relatively unknown internationally, except for its canal. Panama Your Way has made it its mission to reveal this country, by collaborating with local agencies and by participating in international travel trade shows, in a context where the Panamanian government actively promotes abroad.

The agency upholds strong values: eco-responsibility in a developing country, and above all authenticity, by working hand in hand with local and indigenous communities to show what typically escapes visitors. The goal isn’t to flee tourism, but to give it meaning.

Two client profiles emerge. On the one hand, those who opt for guided itineraries, led by professionals trained in storytelling, an approach that places each visit in the history of the place and its people. On the other hand, travelers seeking a complete, multi-week accompaniment, looking for places that cannot be found online. This level of customization rests on a network of more than 200 partners across the country: hotels, guides and activity providers, met and selected one by one.

From Panama City to the tropical forests, a territory with a thousand facets

Panama City and its canal are only the gateway. Once you leave the capital, the country reveals vast tropical forests, regarded as the second-largest concentration of pristine tropical forest in the Americas after the Amazon, and hosting exceptional biodiversity. Panama is full of landscapes that rival those of Costa Rica, without the same media exposure: white-sand beaches, black-sand beaches, and the unique possibility to bathe in the Atlantic and the Pacific on the same day. Some places even offer sunrise and sunset views over the same ocean.

To meet more specific needs, Panama Your Way has also developed two specialized brands. “Select XP Bespoke Travel” is dedicated to creating high-end, fully customized trips, with special attention paid to exceptional accommodations, exclusive experiences and service quality. “Your Panama Relocation Experience” targets those who are considering settling in Panama, through exploratory stays that combine regional discovery, meetings with professionals and practical information about life in the country. These two offerings naturally extend Panama Your Way’s expertise while addressing traveler profiles with highly precise expectations.

Panama Your Way embodies a simple idea: a country is never reduced to its most famous image. By focusing on tailor-made experiences, authenticity, and a strong local grounding, the agency gives Panama the means to reveal what it still hides. It also offers a standing advantage to travelers planning their stay in advance: a discount of up to 15% is granted on all tours booked at least three months before their execution date.

During your trip to Panama, you will have the opportunity to discover several points of interest and to experience unusual experiences.

● Discover the Panama Canal and its basin: where the Pacific meets the Caribbean

The Panama Canal connects the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean to the Caribbean Sea. It is 79.6 km long. Its depth is 13 meters with an average width of 152 meters. Each year, about 14,000 ships pass through it.

The original idea for the canal dates back to the 16th century, in the era of Charles V. Nearly 300 years later, a private international company took charge of the project. Within this organization, Ferdinand de Lesseps—the entrepreneur who led the Suez Canal project—was involved. He sought to replicate the same achievement. However, his trip to New York revealed the American political opposition to foreign intervention in the Americas. Consequently, in 1880, the Universal Inter-Oceanic Canal Company was founded.

The illustrious Gustave Eiffel contributed to the project after some technical difficulties. Yet Lesseps’ troubles did not end, as he faced fraud charges and was convicted, bringing an end to the French attempt, which was taken up, with Eiffel’s plans for the lock systems, by the United States. Ultimately, the canal project was completed in 1914. Over the years, the canal zone has become very lively due to the numerous cruise ships.

● Savor the luxurious Geisha coffee

Traveling in Panama also means having the chance to taste an extraordinary delicacy: Geisha coffee. Coffee Review has given it a score of 98/100. Although Geisha is grown in nearby countries such as Brazil and Colombia, Panama’s Geisha remains unmatched due to the exceptional climate of its natural production site (at the foot of Volcán Barú, in the Chiriquí province). This coveted beverage is the most expensive coffee in the world. You may pay up to $2.25 per gram. Are you tempted to invest in this taste?

● The heritage riches

A trip to Panama would be incomplete without exploring the country’s numerous treasures! A visit to Panama Viejo is a must during your stay. Founded by Pedro Arias Dávila in the early 16th century, the old town where the railway was built at the end of the 19th century is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The ruins of several religious buildings remain to testify to its former glory.

The country’s history can also be seen in Portobelo, which is part of the World Heritage. Revealed during Christopher Columbus’s explorations, it houses remarkable buildings, such as the San Juan de Dios church and the Convent of the Mercedarian Fathers. We should also mention the ruins of Fort San Lorenzo, dating back to the 17th century.

● The Chiriquí Province

In the Gulf of Chiriquí, you can visit numerous islands. This will be a wonderful opportunity to explore marine life and to enjoy a day of relaxation on a paradisiacal beach. The more active travelers can go trekking and hiking.

● Hiking at Volcán Barú

Do not miss one of Panama’s greatest wonders: Volcán Barú in the Chiriquí province. Barú is part of the Talamanca mountain range and represents the highest point in Panama, standing at 3,474 meters above sea level. It last erupted in 1,550. If you’re an adventurous spirit, I recommend joining a guided trek that typically starts in the village of Volcán. This experience will stay etched in your memory forever!

The islands to visit: An extraordinary biodiversity

The island beauty of this small country is most visible through its numerous islands. They offer spectacular natural scenery and luxurious beaches to relax all day long.

● The San Blas Archipelago

This archipelago comprises 365 islands and is best known as the territory of the Gunas. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn about their way of life and habitats. Access is possible by plane or by road from Panama City. Treat yourself to a beach day with your snorkeling gear to admire the richness of underwater life.

● The Pearl Archipelago

Las Perlas is a jewel off the Pacific coast, consisting of 200 islets and islands. The largest island is Isla del Rey, ideal for hiking. Your route will reveal splendid waterfalls and hidden caves. We should also mention San José Island and Contadora Island, both well worth a visit. In this archipelago, from July to September you may witness an astonishing spectacle animated by whales. These majestic creatures populate the area for the birth of their young.

● The Bocas del Toro Archipelago

In the Caribbean Sea, this archipelago stands out for its joyful and euphoric atmosphere. Water taxis are your best option for getting around the Bocas del Toro islands. The landscape is a sublime fresco combining white-sand beaches, tropical jungle, and stilt houses. Do not miss the Bastimentos National Marine Park, covering an area of 13,000 hectares.
