Attitude Hotels

The news is intense for the NMH group (Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels) as the 2026 season begins.

On October 15, Trou aux Biches reopened its doors after four months of works.

The iconic hotel on Mauritius’ northwest coast benefited from a major facelift of its suites and common areas, notably the expansion of the L’Oasis restaurant facing the lagoon.

It also completely redid its beach in the face of coastal erosion, thanks to sand replenishment and submerged geotextiles structures offshore that help soften the energy of the waves. The beach has thus gained about fifteen meters.

Soon a Beachcomber hotel in Zanzibar

In a matter of days, NMH is expected to formalize the acquisition of the Zuri Zanzibar hotel. The information was disclosed by Mauritian press several weeks ago.

At a value of around 79 million dollars, the operation will allow the Mauritian group to diversify its offerings by planting its flag on Zanzibar. The hotel situated on the northern coast of the island will be operated under the Beachcomber brand.

It will become the eleventh establishment in the group, which owns eight hotels on Mauritius, one in the Seychelles (operated by Club Med) and another in Morocco (in Marrakech), marketed by Accor under the Fairmont brand.

Mauritius Has Held Up Well

This double development should enable Beachcomber Tours, the group’s in-house tour operator, to resume its growth path in 2027 after a year hit hard—like the entire sector—by the war in Gulf countries.

The revenue for the 2025/26 fiscal year (ending June 30, 2026) stands at 61 million euros, a slight decline of about 5% year over year. Even though it declined, net profit remains positive, at around 600,000 euros.

“We held up well thanks to Mauritius, which represents 50% of our activity with our own hotels and which we mainly offer on direct flights with Air France, Air Mauritius, and Corsair. It has served as a refuge destination,” comments Chief Executive Guy Zekri.

“Esprit Tranquille,” for free cancellations

To reassure some still anxious customers and those hesitant about traveling in 2027, Beachcomber Tours has negotiated with its suppliers and revived its Esprit tranquille offer, launched during the Covid period.

It is offered for 86 destinations, mostly located in the Indian Ocean and identified in the 2027 brochure by a pictogram.

This offer permits free modification and cancellation of accommodation until ten days before departure. If the airline ticket has been issued, a maximum of €500 per passenger is charged.

The Resurgence of Tanzania

Besides Mauritius, Beachcomber Tours is prioritizing Tanzania in general, and Zanzibar in particular, for 2027, with a new civil liability insurer, namely Xplorassur, to better manage the challenges related to local air transport.

In addition to the Zuri hotel which is set to become Beachcomber and is already marketed by the operator, the Zanzibar offering expands with four seaside addresses, including Envi Paje 5* on the southeast coast, and the “Zanzibar Tranquil” circuit which is available in a luxury version.

“In Tanzania, production is expanding with three new safaris, two of which focus on chimpanzee sightings, and several new addresses including a lodge in Saadani National Park facing Zanzibar,” explains Bruce McNamara, Production Director.
