In a LinkedIn post, Michel-Édouard Leclerc, president of E.Leclerc, defends “ the choice of a human welcome “ in the travel sector at a time when ” banks, the telecom sector and even La Poste are trimming their agencies and jobs. “

“ Tech without humans is a nightmare “ sums him up.

According to him, lessons were learned from Covid. “ Without an interlocutor, apart from an answering machine that questions you like AI: “Are you in Venezuela? Press 1” ; “In Chișinău? Press 795, but type slowly!” ; “In the Glénan? Hoist the sails!” ; “In Oman? Dial 972” ; “In the Landes? Go green!” “

He adds that 18 new travel agencies opened this year, and that six more will join the Voyages E.Leclerc network by the end of the year in Anet, Pontchâteau, Varennes-Vauzelles / Coulanges-lès-Nevers, Bayonne, Bellaing…

Voyages E.Leclerc: a network of more than 260 agencies

These new points of sale bring the network’s agency count to more than 260.

“ For information, given the anxiety-inducing climate at the moment, the most sought-after destinations are domestic, focused on our regions and the Mediterranean-bordering countries “

Ah, and there’s no need to feel guilty: everyone is chasing good deals! Young people or seniors alike, the race is on for last-minute promos!

We had met Michel-Édouard Leclerc last February, in his office at the group’s headquarters in Ivry-sur-Seine.

Voyageurs du Monde Among Europe’s Growth Champions

CroisiEurope

It is a ranking that should make the tourism industry green with envy.

The very industry, which has seen its margins and supplier commissions shrink year after year, is trying to find a future as earnings face tighter and tighter figures.

And yet, Voyageurs du Monde shows that another path is possible.

Often cited as an example, the tour operator has just been ranked among the 100 European growth leaders.

This ranking is published by the Growth Leaders Observatory, an independent, academic, non-commercial research observatory led by Francesco Castellaneta, professor of strategy and entrepreneurship at SKEMA Business School – Université Côte d’Azur, GREDEG.

“Forty listed French companies have grown their sales, profits, and shareholder returns over three years at the same time.

Vusion, GTT, Sidetrade, Voyageurs du Monde and LISI are among the most notable examples, in very different industries: from connected commerce to LNG transport, from financial software to bespoke travel and aerospace
“, commented Francesco Castellaneta, director of the Growth Leaders Observatory.

Voyageurs du Monde: Net income up 62%

Voyageurs du Monde achieves a very honorable 87th place, just ahead of two other tourism players, Valamar Riviera at 90th and Imperial Riviera at 92nd, Croatian operators.

To make it into the top 100, the French tour operator could rely on various economic indicators.

Thus, between 2022 and 2025, it posted revenue growth of 58% and net income growth of 62%. In the same period, its stock market performance rose by 103%, while the share performance in 2026 was up by 12%.

In 2025, Voyageurs du Monde’s revenues came 55% from tailor-made travel, 30% from adventure travel, and 15% from cycling.

The year 2026, marked by conflict, is expected to be less conducive to growth, as indicators have moved downward for several weeks.

The company also owns several accommodations worldwide, such as Satyagraha House, the Johannesburg home where Gandhi stayed in 1908, as well as Villa Nomade, a riad in Marrakech, Villa Bahia in Brazil, not to mention its ship Steam Ship Sudan.

Moreover, two new boats are expected by 2028.

As we revealed to you, in a previous article, the year 2026 marks the true deployment of the Voyageurs du Monde brand internationally. Not only that, but the company is expected to exit the Paris Stock Exchange very soon.

Voyageurs du Monde completes its exit from the Paris Stock Exchange

The operation was announced last July, exactly 20 years after the company’s stock market debut. The exit was scheduled for November 2026. On Wednesday, September 23, another milestone was reached in this direction, as Crowe HAF concluded the fairness of the withdrawal offer from a financial standpoint.

“The Crowe HAF firm, represented by Olivier Grivillers, named as independent expert, delivered on 21 September 2026 its definitive report concluding the financial fairness of the offer’s terms.

According to this report, the price of 180 euros per share matches the value derived from recent equity transactions and carries a premium of 9.8% on the discounted cash flow method and 13.9% over stock market comparables
“, explained the Ideal Investisseur site.

The next step is due to take place on 26 October 2026, prior to delisting.

This stock-market exit, as Alain Capestan had explained to us, responds to development goals, but also to the aim of attracting private equity funds.

Due to market constraints, some investors are not interested in this type of company. Now relieved of that burden, and with Certares owning more than 50% of the shares, Voyageurs du Monde is likely to open a new chapter in its history.

“In the medium term, nothing will change, as we will stay for another five years to complete this internationalization effort. After that, we will not remain at the helm forever. At some point, this story will end. We are in a slow process of handing over the business. We have recruited general managers across all structures and operational staff in the finance department, whereas before we handled these roles ourselves. We have structured the company, which has become a group“, the Voyageurs du Monde CEO told us.

TourCom Champions Customization to Improve Its Agencies’ Margins

Traditionally, TourCom opens the travel industry’s autumn season for distributors with a workshop that brings together the receptive operators with whom the network of travel agencies collaborates, a few days before the IFTM trade show.

2026 did not escape the rule, with several innovations. First, the presence of the press, as its president Richard Vainopoulos—who had been discreet for several years—decided to speak up more frequently.

Moreover, this year TourCom makes a double move, with a first day that allowed agencies to meet the referenced TOs, and a second devoted to the receptives.

Fifty receptives were present in Paris for the occasion out of a total of 85, coming to meet 200 agencies and underscoring their growing influence. “With hotel reservation consolidators, they account for about 15% of our leisure sales, which total 800 million euros,” recalled Richard Vainopoulos.

Se démarquer avec des voyages sur-mesure

And to specify that TourCom was the first to reference this offer, both to meet demand when TOs were fully booked and also to stand out with tailor-made products, differentiating themselves—especially from those available online—and delivering higher margins.

He also reminded, during his opening speech to members, that “to margin” is not a dirty word.

“It is the basis of good management, the fair compensation of our know-how. In the future commissions will be limited. Tomorrow, agencies that know how to margin and sell TOs with added value will be the winners.”

« Vendre un prix peut mettre votre entreprise en péril »

“It’s better to sell less, but better. That’s what helped us get through the summer. Selling on price can put your business at risk. The quality of service is essential to differentiate from the web players who sell in bulk to profit without caring about the rest.”

And to commend its members and, more broadly, the network, for showing resilience, demonstrating a strong ability to respond to repatriate customers stranded around the world.

“Tech players dream only of erasing us, but we are still here, with mastery of ever more tools that make us unique. France is one of the few countries where there is still a fear of charging for service.”

« L’été n’est plus la haute saison »

Richard Vainopoulos also used the workshop to share his vision for tomorrow’s challenges and sector mutations.

Taking a swipe at a few players: a competing network that looks like a frog trying to be bigger than the ox, or the Protourisme consultancy whose summer forecasts he brands as alarmist and calls for necessary caution regarding the stream of information on television.

“From now on, we sell trips for 12 months; summer is no longer the peak season. We have had many last-minute bookings, with impressive dossiers. In the end, the annual balance sheet is what counts.”

If he believes that, in today’s anxiety-inducing context, the tourism industry is doing fairly well – “I am not worried about the future of agencies,” he stressed – he does not overlook the ongoing transformations, notably technological ones.

Le danger d’une offre banalisée avec l’IA

Beginning with AI, which can prove effective for saving time but will not replace the agencies.

Besides pointing out that it is a heavy consumer of energy and natural resources, with by 2030 a water demand equivalent to the consumption of 1.3 billion people, he emphasizes the importance of not taking the easy route.

“AI can err, with potential early disputes. Be careful not to believe everything. And with too much AI, the risk is to banalize its proposals in the face of competition. Your strength lies in added value,” he states.

Facture électronique, le chantier de demain

Une légère croissance espérée en 2026

Which, Richard Vainopoulos hopes, will make a difference in an environment that remains highly competitive, and attract even more new members.

The network currently lists 855 points of sale in France to date, up from 850 at the start of the year, with the agencies in Belgium and Luxembourg to be added.

Richard Vainopoulos announces around fifteen new arrivals, against four resignations and a few removals for financial or ethical reasons, and hopes for a slight growth in business volume in 2026, driven in particular by business travel.
