The customer can view the distribution of emissions between transport and accommodation

Practically, an initial estimate of greenhouse gas emissions appears on the results page. This figure is then refined throughout the booking journey based on several parameters: duration of stay, number of travelers or even flights selected when they are included in the offer.

The client can also view the breakdown of emissions between transport and accommodation, as well as equivalences intended to better understand the impact of their trip.

The information is finally included in the reservation confirmation email and will be integrated into the brand’s printed materials starting in September 2026.
At E.Leclerc, we have always believed that the consumer should be able to choose with the best possible information. (…) We think it is now legitimate that they can also access information about their environmental impact,” explains Guirec Le Morvan, director of Voyages E.Leclerc.

Voyages E.Leclerc has partnered with Fairmoove Solutions

To develop this calculator, Voyages E.Leclerc partnered with Fairmoove Solutions, specialized in environmental assessment applied to tourism.

For air transport, the calculation relies on actual kerosene consumption where available and also accounts for the impact of contrails, now recognized as a contributing factor to climate warming.

Regarding accommodations, the assessment relies on industry databases and the specific characteristics of each establishment.

The calculator currently covers stays in France that include lodging, as well as trips abroad including lodging alone or combined with air travel.

“After the textile eco-score, we are tackling travel”

This initiative is part of the broader decarbonization plan of the E.Leclerc Movement, which aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2035.

Voyages E.Leclerc also recalls having joined Act for Responsible Tourism (ATR) in 2020, carried out its first Carbon Footprint assessment (Bilan Carbone®) in 2023, and developed a network of CSR ambassadors within its agencies.

After the textile eco-score, we are tackling travel. Consumers already compare prices. Tomorrow, they will also be able to compare the carbon impact of their stays. One more criterion, at the moment they need it.” said Michel-Édouard Leclerc, president of the strategic committee of E.Leclerc centers.

Voyages E.Leclerc continues to develop its travel auction and live shopping systems, launched two years ago in order to make stays more accessible.

The brand is organizing a new auction session from May 20 to 21, 2026, with several destinations up for grabs, including Marrakech, Lanzarote and Madeira.

The concept behind “Voyages Auctions” rests on a simple mechanism: customers registered to the bidding club can participate in online sales where the starting price is set at 1 euro. Bids, capped at 5 euros, allow participants to bid on multiple offers simultaneously for a duration of 24 hours. The last bidder before the countdown ends wins the respective stay.

According to the brand, the offered stays represent an average budget of around 1,200 euros for two people, with discounts approaching 32 % compared to public rates. Eight destinations are presented each day over two days. The offers include stays in the Canary Islands, in Martinique, but also city breaks in Rome or Lisbon.

Registrations for the upcoming auctions are accessible here.

A System Complemented by Live Shopping Sessions

In parallel, Voyages E.Leclerc continues to develop its live shopping sessions. Inspired by teleshopping, this format allows internet users to discover travel destinations live through presentations led by travel experts or showcased destinations.

Broadcast on the retailer’s site as well as on its Instagram account Voyages E.Leclerc, these sessions feature presentations about the cultural and geographic specifics of the destinations, accompanied by live exchanges with viewers via a chat module.

Participants can also access exclusive promotional offers during the sessions.

Among the destinations already highlighted are notably French Polynesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, Egypt or Australia.
