Stéphane Dossetto, Quartier Libre’s Commercial Director, is delighted: “ I won’t insult you by recalling the destinations that have made Quartier Libre the specialist known to all professionals.

In the 2027 collection we present our classics, namely Ireland, Swedish Lapland, Scotland, Iceland, Norway, and Italy.

And we have decided to invest in more original products and in new destinations.

Original Products and Uncharted Destinations

Scotland, Halloween between legends and thrills. An original itinerary to experience Halloween amid historic towns, local legends, and offbeat experiences. With nighttime visits in atmospheres wrapped in mystery and charming accommodations.

England to experience the timeless charm of the Cotswolds. A journey discovering the wild and romantic landscapes of the Cotswolds or Cornwall. Rural counties, village pubs, and secret gardens for a literary immersion in total disconnection.

Whisky circuit and Scottish traditions. An immersion to discover Scotland’s renowned landscapes and to explore its ancestral whisky craftsmanship. Between tastings at traditional distilleries and cultural stops, a wonderful spotlight on the Scottish soul to be savored with moderation, or not.

And our new destinations:

Spain with the program Secret Andalusia and its white villages. A fresh way to experience Spain differently, with lands steeped in history, the spectacular landscapes of the sierras, and villages whitened with lime. For travelers who want to feel the Andalusian vibe, visit family-run bodegas and sleep in charming hotels.

Portugal, between the Douro Valley and the wild coast. An immersion at the heart of Portugal, from the Atlantic to wooded hills, with its schist villages, secret terraces, maritime tradition, and culture. A journey that highlights the Lusitanian art of living in slow travel mode.

We are confident that this renewed and original offering will find its audience, all the more since we always guarantee the Quartier Libre quality. In any case, that’s what we felt when presenting them a few days ago at the IFTM.

Lapland, Spain, Portugal: Quartier Libre Strengthens Its Production (Video)

TourMaG – How is Quartier Libre faring at the start of the 2026 season?

Stéphane Dossetto :
Like our competitors and colleagues, we experienced a somewhat chaotic summer. The beginning of the season was rather negative.

But after July and August, given that we generate a lot of last-minute sales, we managed to stand out. The season should ultimately break even, or be slightly positive.

TourMaG – So last-minute sales played a decisive role?

Stéphane Dossetto :
Yes. We suffered like everyone else, but the late bookings saved us. European destinations also contributed a lot to this solid performance.

TourMaG – Precisely, Europe seems to have benefited particularly from this context. Will European destinations be the big winners?

Stéphane Dossetto :
I don’t yet know if they are going to be the big winners; we will have to wait until the end of the year to measure it. However, these are clearly reassuring destinations.

They are close, they are in Europe and, for some, there is even an alternative to flying. If a client has a fear of flying or worries about being blocked, they can sometimes return by train.

TourMaG – What is your top destination this year?

Stéphane Dossetto :
Ireland has been Quartier Libre’s number one for years. This year, it was overtaken by Lapland. This isn’t really surprising, as this destination has been growing strongly for several years.

Lapland became our leading destination, ahead of Ireland. Scotland comes in third and has also progressed very strongly. We have notably broadened our range of guaranteed-departure circuits.

TourMaG – The Swedish Lapland has indeed become a real best-seller. How do you explain this success?

Stéphane Dossetto :
The French people love this destination. We also launched a new product. We were among the first to offer Swedish Lapland, and today we have three flights per week, with a direct arrival at Luleå airport.

We also opened two hotels from the second year, with two very different concepts. The first targets couples and is located in the city center, with an outdoor base in the forest where guests go daily for activities.

The second is more family-oriented. It sits by the sea, in a forest, away from the city. The main activities take place directly in the hotel. It notably features a 3,000 m² aquatic area, which is a real asset for families.

Spain and Portugal as new offerings!

TourMaG – Will you continue to develop this production?

Stéphane Dossetto :
Yes. This year we are keeping our three weekly flights, as last year, but we have increased the number of Quartier Libre pilots (the tour operator’s on-tour hosts). We already have eight on Piteå and five on Luleå.

We will also add a new range of two-bedroom chalets. The guests will be almost alone in the forest, while staying close to the activities. It is a product more oriented toward nature.

The challenge is that we do not have an unlimited quantity of chalets. We will offer nine, no more. It will thus be first come, first served.

TourMaG – Northern Europe remains your playing field. But will you also strengthen your presence in Southern Europe?

Stéphane Dossetto :
Yes. Italy has progressed notably. It has now surpassed Iceland, which was nonetheless a Quartier Libre benchmark. For a bit of history, we even chartered planes to go to Iceland at one time.

Given Italy’s progress, we will develop Southern Europe further. This will notably include Spain and Portugal starting next year.

TourMaG – What are the other new items in the lineup?

Stéphane Dossetto :
We will renew some offers, but we have also refreshed and improved England, with guided tours on guaranteed departures.

We have also developed themed tours. This year, for instance, we offered products around the eclipse in Scotland, Ireland, Norway and Iceland. This latter product, by the way, filled up very quickly.

For the next season, we will continue along this approach with new themes. We will notably offer Halloween, as well as a Whisky Tour in Scotland allowing visitors to discover several distilleries.

We will also intensify our range of circuits in mini-groups. The 12-passenger tours in Ireland performed well last year, and we will offer many more dates next year.

Quartier Libre : “We are the project managers of our circuits”

TourMaG – What differentiates Quartier Libre tours from other market offerings?

Stéphane Dossetto :
We are somewhat atypical in our lineup. We are a tour operator, meaning we produce our own tours. They are exclusive, which allows us to manage them from A to Z and assign our own guides. These are official guides, but they are trained by Quartier Libre.

Being the project manager also lets us work on last-minute deals. This year, while we sold many late departures, we were able to market certain products up to a week before departure.

On the experiential side, we also have our own differentiator. In Ireland, for example, we offer an evening of folk dancing in a private room or pub, with a show reserved for our clients.

In Lapland, Santa Claus is exclusively reserved for Quartier Libre clients, just like the dogsledding experience. The suppliers involved work only for us.

In Scotland, we obviously do the Isle of Skye, but we also offer an experience on the Isle of Bute. We go there by boat to explore the beaches, but above all a listed manor house, whose interior, exterior and gardens we visit.

In Norway, on our eight-day fjords circuit, clients benefit from three cruises on three different fjords. We notably offer a departure from the old port of Bergen, a UNESCO-listed historic site, followed by a 2h30 cruise on the Sognefjord. Again, this is an exclusive Quartier Libre experience.

2027: 12% ahead of other years

TourMaG – How does 2027 look for Quartier Libre?

Stéphane Dossetto :
2027 is looking quite solid. We opened sales for Lapland earlier this year and, more importantly, we opened our summer sales. Clients can already book next summer.

We are currently 12% ahead of other years. So next year is shaping up nicely.

And that’s good news, because we needed to turn the page on this year, which was challenging and could eventually end up positively. We did suffer, but the current momentum is encouraging.

The Penguin World tourism group, based in Lyon, comprises three companies: SpeedMedia Services, Resaneo, and Quartier Libre. Collaborating with all three Penguin World entities means partnering with professionals dedicated to serving travel industry players.

SPEEDMEDIA: technology serving everyone

SpeedMedia, a travel software publisher for more than two decades, redefines the digital support for travel agencies, networks, and tour operators with a clear mission: turning technical complexity into immediate sales opportunities.

The era of static showroom websites is over; today’s travelers demand fluency, immediacy, and reassurance. SpeedMedia rises to this challenge by delivering solutions that automate low-value-added tasks — checking availability, updating prices, handling deposits — so travel agents can focus on what matters most: guidance and sales. This efficacy rests on the strength of a single ecosystem, connecting in real time with more than 70 tour operators and an extensive network of air carriers.

This technological force enables professionals to reclaim control over their offerings through the Open Package (Flex). They can now assemble their own land-based services with global transport flows, while delegating the intricate management of air customer service. Each building block is designed to secure the customer journey and maximize conversion rates.

SpeedMedia’s ambition is to make this power accessible to all, from local agencies to large-scale e-commerce accounts.

Quartier Libre with its classics and a host of new features

© Canva - Penguin World

Quartier Libre is a tour operator specializing in circuit trips around Celtic and Scandinavian cultures.

Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Ireland and Scotland have been our flagship destinations for over thirty years. We are nonetheless committed to deepening our expertise, strengthening our strengths, and staying aligned with contemporary challenges so that we offer products that are increasingly relevant to our clients.

The integration of Quartier Libre into the Penguin World group in 2019 re-energized our creation and commercialization processes. We work in synergy with other group members to offer a simple and efficient travel-booking experience: while Resaneo provides the full range of air availability with real-time pricing, SpeedMedia supplies users with a first-rate digital interface.

We also intend to preserve the proximity we have forged with our clients. Quartier Libre has established itself in the industry as a major regional player, enabling access to Northern Europe from many French cities and neighboring countries — Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and Spain. We emphasize developing varied proposals, both in form (guided tours, self-guided trips, or stays) and in substance (cultural and natural heritage discovery, playful and sport-filled activities, etc.), each with supervision and reassuring guarantees to meet the needs of every traveler type.

This year Quartier Libre innovated by launching a new production including a circuit in England or small groups of 18 in Ireland. Additionally, our multi-activity stays in Swedish Lapland are now offered with three flights per week.

Finally, our organization remains committed to addressing current issues. In the face of the climate emergency, we are developing numerous avenues to offer sustainable tourism that respects the environment. Whether prioritizing direct flights or train routes for pre- and post-journey connections, that is why we also offer our clients who wish to visit the Isles and Highlands of Scotland and our circuit in England to reach them by train from France or Belgium.

Moreover, our two Baltic circuits are train-based. Quartier Libre recognizes its responsibilities and strives to meet today’s legitimate expectations. So that travel leaves a lasting impact on the traveler… not only on the places they traverse.

Dream Yacht

Stéphane Dossetto, Commercial Director, explains: “Despite a geopolitically complex context, we are staying the course we had mapped out. It must be said that we are fortunate to be positioned on nearby and safe destinations. We benefit from certain postponements.

Our production includes classics, enriched with new offerings, with departures guaranteed on our main routes. And always accompanied by our in-house guides, we offer our clients little touches that enrich their journey and leave a lasting impression.”

Quartier Libre’s Scotland, folklore is no legend

In Scotland with Quartier Libre you will travel among legends, landscapes, castles, and historic towns. But don’t overlook the folklore, and that’s why you will enjoy an exclusive evening in two of our programs.

With our Grand Tour of Scotland you will experience 11 days and 10 nights, during which you will encounter the remarkable Loch Ness, nestled in the heart of the Highlands, where a very particular inhabitant is said to hide in its depths. Not to miss are visits to a distillery and a brewery (with tastings of whiskey and beer). A comprehensive tour that covers the Highlands’ must-sees. And a more intimate region, the Lowlands, with Floors Castle (the country’s largest inhabited castle) and Lindisfarne Island, separated from the mainland by a submerged road.

If you choose our Isles & Highlands (8 days / 7 nights with guaranteed departures every week), you will encounter majestic landscapes, a culture rich in legends, and traditions that remain very much alive. This journey will also offer a culinary immersion through visits to two whiskey distilleries, not to mention highlights like a cruise on Loch Ness (the country’s second largest by size and first by water volume) or a excursion to the wild island of Skye.

Ireland to be savored without moderation

The country is renowned for its scenery and the warmth of its people. To set the mood, Quartier Libre includes in its full-board circuits a typical lunch, a tasting of four whiskies, a folk dance performance around a beer, and an Irish pub night with a beer on the house. A way to savor the pleasures of a unique island.

The Irish Walk, our bestseller for an immersive experience in Irish popular culture in 8 days / 7 nights. Discover the great classics of the western side of the green island, with its lakes, cliffs, and iconic towns.

Dublin, Connemara, the Cliffs of Moher, the Dingle Peninsula, the Ring of Kerry and the Rock of Cashel will astonish you.

The Grand Tour of Ireland, in 11 days / 10 nights with full board, will allow you to visit the island’s two capitals, Dublin and Belfast. The thrilling and often turbulent history of the two Irelands will no longer be a mystery to you. Like the Irish Walk, you will pass through Connemara, the Ring of Kerry and Kilkenny, with an additional exploration of the fabulous Aran Islands.

And Northern Ireland with Belfast and the Titanic Museum, not to forget the phenomenal Giant’s Causeway.

Quartier Libre’s Norway, fjords on land and on the water

Stéphane outlines the programs available with partners such as Norwegian, Volotea, Lufthansa, Air France, and Scandinavian Airlines. “Beyond housing our clients in the city center in Bergen, we invite them to cruise through three fjords and to discover several stave churches as well as the Maihaugen open-air museum.”

Our circuit “Grand Tour of Norway,” 11 days / 10 nights, awaits you (from 3433€). A rich and balanced itinerary that will take you to the North Cape and its Midnight Sun; you will explore the wild northern lands and the eastern fjords. With a stop at Jotunheim National Park where you might encounter the giant trolls we mentioned in the previous paragraph.

The “Norway of the Fjords” is the production’s best-seller (from 1899€), and it’s no accident. In 8 days / 7 nights your clients will discover the quintessential land of the Fjords, where nature shows off its dazzling and immense scale. The Sognefjord, king of the fjords, UNESCO-listed; the Geirangerfjord with its cliffs and waterfalls; and the Hardangerfjord, the southernmost with gentler slopes.

Stéphane adds: “In this program, the three fjord cruises (totaling about 4 hours of navigation) are simply breathtaking and even vertigo-inducing. It’s an experience you should live at least once in your life.”

The visits to Oslo, Bergen and Lillehammer, plus a stroll at the foot of a glacier, make this itinerary a true snapshot of the destination’s must-see highlights.

Stéphane also adds: “And to be fully complete, we’ve just launched, for astronomy enthusiasts, a solar eclipse special variant of our guided tours Norway of the Fjords and Grand Tour of Norway.”

© Canva - Quartier Libre

Whale Watching in Iceland

Stéphane explains: “We offer a guided itinerary with guaranteed departures for those seeking a memorable journey amid all the wonders of Iceland. Two cruises are included in this trip. The first focuses on whale watching, and the second is a visit to Jökulsárlón, a glacial lagoon located in the southeast of the country.

This guided Iceland itinerary 8 days / 7 nights is offered with guaranteed departures from May to August.

Our itinerary will allow your travelers to explore the island in its entirety, from vast natural spaces to cultural and historical sites. On the program for these 8 days are the country’s must-sees, waiting to gift your clients unforgettable memories.

We are a specialist in the destination, which enables us to craft a trip accessible to all. It ranges from strolling along black-sand beaches to observing geysers and discovering waterfalls. We are committed to delivering top-quality service.”
