New York broadens its accessibility from France.

According to New York City Tourism + Conventions, the city welcomed 725,000 French visitors in 2025, making France its fourth international market, behind the United Kingdom, Canada and Italy.

For 2026, the tourism body foresees 65.4 million visitors, including 738,000 French nationals, representing a 1.7% year-on-year increase.

To meet this demand, airlines are strengthening their schedules between France and the two main New York airports, John F. Kennedy (JFK) and Newark Liberty (EWR).

Paris – New York: 5,000 additional seats

For winter 2026-2027, French bee plans up to seven weekly flights between Paris-Orly and Newark, i.e. 5,000 additional seats compared to the previous winter.

In the summer period, seven carriers currently offer up to 22 direct daily flights between Paris and New York, equating to around 5,000 seats per day departing from Paris, according to estimates from New York City Tourism + Conventions.

From Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle, Air France and Delta Air Lines operate services to JFK, while Air France and United Airlines also run connections to Newark. American Airlines and JetBlue complete the JFK offerings.

From Paris-Orly, French bee provides up to ten weekly flights to Newark in peak season.

La Compagnie also serves Newark from Orly, with a daily flight operated exclusively in business class.

Nice and Marseille: new direct flights to New York

Beyond Paris, the southern part of France is also benefiting from the growth of direct links to New York.

Nice already has seasonal routes operated by Delta Air Lines to JFK and United Airlines to Newark. The airline extends its Newark service through winter 2026-2027, with two weekly flights.

On May 7, 2027, American Airlines plans to launch a daily service between Nice and JFK. The route will be operated with an Airbus A321XLR featuring 155 seats. With this opening, four airlines will offer a direct connection from Nice to New York.

Marseille-Provence should also join the transatlantic network. United Airlines will inaugurate, on June 5, 2027, a daily nonstop service between Marseille and Newark.

JFK continues its modernization

The growth of air links goes hand in hand with investments in New York’s airport infrastructure. JFK’s New Terminal One is entering a modernization program valued at nearly $19 billion, supported by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

The first phase of the terminal is expected in the first quarter of 2027.

Air France plans to relocate all of its flights there. The airline is also set to open a lounge exceeding 2,700 m², which will become the largest in its international network. The lounge is planned to be spread over two levels, with more than 400 seats and dining spaces highlighting French gastronomy.

La Compagnie Launches 100% Business Class Service Between New York and Düsseldorf

An offering exclusively dedicated to Business Class

A Transatlantic Network Set to Grow

French bee also continues to expand its network in the Indian Ocean with the launch of new links to the Maldives and Sri Lanka starting December 19, 2026:

The airline will offer this seasonal route from Paris-Orly with two stopovers, in Malé (Maldives) and Colombo (Sri Lanka) on the return.

Stopovers will be possible in Sri Lanka for travelers wishing to combine the two destinations.

Marc-Antoine Blondeau, Chief Executive Officer of French bee, states: « This new program illustrates our intent to pursue measured growth, strengthening the destinations that shape our network while opening new opportunities for our customers. The arrival of the Maldives and Sri Lanka marks a new step in French bee’s development and complements an offering already largely oriented toward major international tourist markets. »

Tourist Activities: New York, Rome, Marrakech — What the French Are Booking

The market for activities, guided tours, and excursions continues to rise within the travel experience.

According to data from the third Index of Activities published by the Entreprises du Voyage (EDV) and Civitatis, French travelers are giving an increasing place to on-site experiences, to the point that they now influence their destination choice.

The study, based on reservations made between January 1 and June 15, 2026, mainly highlights a marked difference between purchases made directly by travelers (B2C) and those made through travel agencies (B2B).

In direct bookings, consumers favor immediacy: bookings are made with a median of only six days before the activity and more than half of purchases (53%) are made less than a week before the service.

Conversely, travel agencies anticipate their clients’ needs well in advance. Reservations are made with a median of 66 days before the activity, while 60% of purchases occur between one and six months before departure.

For Valérie Boned, president of Entreprises du Voyage, this analysis provides a real decision-support tool for professionals. “This third edition demonstrates how data is an indispensable growth lever for our members,” she notes.

The activities strengthen the role of agencies

For Georges Sans, head of France development at Civitatis, this evolution also reflects the positioning of travel agencies.

He believes that activities and transfers no longer represent merely add-on sales, but become differentiating elements enabling agencies to accompany clients throughout their journey and to reinforce their loyalty.

The Index also shows that guided tours remain the flagship product for travel agencies. They account for nearly 39% of sales realized via the B2B channel.

On destinations, Paris remains the top French destination.

Internationally, trends vary by distribution channel. Individual travelers favor New York, while travel agencies sell more Rome.

Airport transfers are also among the most sought-after services. In direct bookings, New York tops the requests, while agencies primarily market them in Marrakech, ahead of Seville and Rome, in a strategy of building complete stays.

Tunisia records the strongest growth

The Index also identifies international destinations with the largest increases in reservations compared to the first half of 2025.

Tunisia shows the most spectacular progression with a growth of 289%. It edges out Canada (+145%), Egypt (+106%), and the Dominican Republic (+37%).

Finally, the study confirms France’s attractiveness to international visitors. Paris remains the most visited French city, followed by Lyon and Nice.

According to a study published in May 2026 by Arival in partnership with Civitatis, more than one European traveler in two now considers that the experiences offered on-site play a very important, even decisive, role in choosing their destination.

This trend reinforces the growing weight of tourist activities in shaping travel-agency offers.
