TUI stays on course.

Despite an environment marked by geopolitical tensions, economic slowdown across several European markets and greater consumer caution, the travel group confirms its financial outlook for the 2026 financial year.

At the end of the third quarter, covering the period from April to June 2026, TUI reports an underlying EBIT of €235 million, compared with €321 million a year earlier. The result was notably affected by €20 million due to the direct consequences of the war in Iran on the cruise activity.

For the nine months of the year, the underlying EBIT reached €123 million, vs €165 million in the same period in 2025.

According to the group, the effects of the war in Iran and the hurricane in Jamaica weighed on the result by €81 million. Excluding these exceptional items, TUI believes its performance would have surpassed that of the previous year.

Late Reservations

Hotels and Cruises Hold Up

TUI Musement Continues Its Progress

France Still in the Red

TUI France: Last-Minute Bookings Up 20% This Summer

TAP Air Portugal

While the French remain largely inclined toward advance bookings, last-minute departures are on the rise this summer.

TUI France indicates that bookings made in the 31 days preceding departure for the Clubs Lookéa and Marmara have increased by 20 % compared with summer 2025.

According to the tour operator, this trend reflects heightened traveler interest in last-minute offers, without undermining the habit of planning ahead. In total, 74 % of customers still reserve their holidays three to nine months before departure.

More precisely, 46 % book their reservation three to six months in advance, 25 % between six and nine months, while 3 % reserve more than nine months ahead of their stay. Conversely, 20 % book between one and three months before departure and 6 % only in the month preceding their vacation.

In a press release, Christophe Fuss, CEO of TUI France, states that “last-minute is gaining ground this year but it does not replace anticipation“, noting a growing demand for flexibility and good deals, especially for seaside destinations and club stays.

A last-minute traveler who most often travels as a couple

According to data released by TUI France, last-minute travelers predominantly go with a companion. Couples account for 60 % of bookings, ahead of families at 35 %, while solo travelers constitute only 5 %.

Mediterranean destinations remain the most sought-after for this booking pattern. Greece tops the list, followed by Italy and Tunisia. Among the most requested properties are the Marmara Doreta Beach Club in Rhodes, the Marmara Sicilia in Sicily, and the Lookéa Playa Djerba Club in Tunisia.

On theNouvelles Frontières itineraries side, reservations made one month prior are also rising. Itineraries to Iceland, Canada, and Portugal feature among the most in demand. For the TUI Sélection range, the Balearics, Crete, and Morocco remain the favored destinations for last-minute vacationers.

Finally, despite the growth of online bookings, the physical distribution network remains important. According to TUI France, 22 % of last-minute travelers book through one of the more than 200 TUI Stores across France.

TUI Becomes Partner of the Palermo Marathon and Extends Its Commitment in Rhodes

Costa Rica

Sports tourism continues to gain momentum at TUI.

After Rhodes, Cyprus and Mallorca, the group adds a new destination to its marathon portfolio by becoming a partner of the Palermo Marathon.

From the 2026 edition, scheduled for 15 November, TUI will be the event’s premium partner before becoming its title sponsor from 2027.

Created 31 years ago, the Sicilian marathon drew more than 3,000 runners from 35 countries at its latest edition.

It will join the TUI Mediterranean Marathon League, which already brings together the Rhodes, Cyprus and Mallorca events.

According to the group, more than 25,000 participants are expected across all of these events in 2027.

TUI bets on marathons to boost the late-season

For Sebastian Ebel, CEO of TUI Group, this strategy responds to the rise of sports tourism and the desire for getaways that combine vacation with athletic activity. “The fact of linking a sporting event with a holiday destination shows no signs of slowing down,” he explains.

The group also notes that these marathons are staged in spring and autumn, thereby contributing to sustaining tourist attendance outside the peak season for the benefit of the host destinations.

In tandem, TUI has extended through 2030 its title sponsorship of the TUI Rhodes Marathon, initially planned to run through 2027.

The two partners intend to continue developing the event along several axes, notably sustainability, inclusion, innovation, and collaboration with local stakeholders.

Costa Rica

TUI Musement lance the ‘multi-day experiences’, a line of 24- to 48-hour mini-escapes that include overnight stays, local guiding and immersive activities.

Designed to respond to the growing appetite among travelers for enriched short getaways, this offering enables an in-depth exploration of iconic destinations. The program relies on unconventional accommodations and the group’s operational network.

This new offer features more than 35 itineraries across the globe, spanning destinations such as Costa Rica, Thailand, Kenya, Peru or Australia.

The routes combine unconventional accommodations – such as safari lodges, luxury jungle tents, desert camps or homestays – and guided activities by local guides.

According to an internal study, 70% of travelers say they are interested in this type of short-format that can be paired with a main stay, a trend particularly marked among young professionals and families.

Operational integration and a global rollout

Developed largely by the group’s in-house teams, these offerings bundle transportation, accommodations and activities under international safety and sustainability standards.

The itineraries include, for example, rafting in Costa Rica, nights spent in tents in Thai national parks or navigation through the Australian archipelagos.

Available from 145 euros per person, these experiences can be booked before departure or directly on-site via the network’s full range of physical and digital channels.

The catalog, currently counting more than 35 options, will grow to surpass 45 proposals by the end of the summer before continuing its expansion.

Summer 2026: TUI Group Sees Strong Last-Minute Booking Surge

CroisiEurope

TUI Group published improving half-year results despite a backdrop marked by conflicts in the Middle East and an unstable economic environment. The group reports an underlying EBIT of -111 million euros for the first half of 2026, representing an improvement of 45 million euros versus the previous year.

In the second quarter, traditionally loss-making for the tourism sector, the underlying EBIT stood at -188 million euros, up 19 million euros from last year, despite exceptional charges of 45 million euros largely tied to the war in Iran and Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica.

For the first half of the fiscal year, closing on March 31, revenue declined by 14%, to 8.6 billion euros. At constant exchange rates, it rose by 1.3%.

Over the first six months of the period, 12.8 million customers traveled with TUI, i.e., 200,000 more than a year earlier. The group also highlights the continued strong trend toward last-minute bookings for summer 2026, notably to Western Mediterranean destinations such as Spain, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, and Greece.

TUI has posted growth in its operating profit for the fourteenth consecutive quarter. This demonstrates the Group’s steady development,” stated Sebastian Ebel, the Group CEO. The executive also noted that “geopolitical challenges and the unstable economic environment” require “considerable commitment and flexibility.”

TUI confirms the revised outlook in April for fiscal 2026

The “Holiday Experiences” segment, which encompasses hotels, cruises and leisure activities, remains one of the group’s main performance drivers. Cruises are showing strong demand, with half-year underlying EBIT up 25.9% to €163.5 million. Despite the impact of the Iranian conflict, ship occupancy remains high at 93%.

TUI also highlights the acceleration of its digital transformation and the integration of artificial intelligence into its activities. “We view artificial intelligence as an opportunity for the travel and tourism sector,” explains Sebastian Ebel, referring in particular to collaborations with Google and OpenAI through AI features integrated into the group’s app.

Despite this volatile context, TUI confirms the revised outlook in April for the 2026 fiscal year. The group now expects underlying EBIT to range between €1.1 and €1.4 billion, while temporarily suspending its revenue guidance.

CroisiEurope

As the summer season approaches, the tour operator TUI France is launching a new promotional offer. The travel company is betting on completely free travel for children aged 2 to 11, for all departures scheduled through October 31, 2026.

This initiative, valid for bookings made between June 4 and June 30, applies to a selection of seven Lookéa and Marmara clubs. It was designed to substantially reduce family budgets, including those of single-parent families.

TUI France covers all costs: not only the stays but also air travel, airport taxes and any fuel surcharges. For children under two, the usual 90% discount remains unchanged.

This comprehensive freebie program applies to seven Lookéa and Marmara properties across three major Mediterranean destinations. In Italy, the offer covers the Sicilian facilities of Club Lookéa Athena Resort Sicily and Club Marmara Sicilia. In Spain, it is offered at Club Marmara Oasis Menorca on Menorca island.

Finally, in Greece, four properties participate: Club Lookéa Sun Palace and Club Marmara Zorbas in Kos, Club Marmara Doreta in Rhodes, as well as Club Marmara Sandy Beach in Corfu.

A general discount across the entire summer catalog

To cover its full lineup, the tour operator extends this promotional campaign as price reductions applied to its other sites. Thus, the 55 other Marmara Clubs and Lookéa Clubs open for the summer season offer a 50% discount for children aged 2 to 11, valid under the same booking and departure-date conditions.

This preferential rate includes all the elements of the club package: round-trip flights, transfers to the hotel, accommodation, full board with beverages, as well as access to daily activities in French and to children’s clubs supervised by professional teams.

With this large-scale rollout, available both through travel agencies and on its online platform, the brand aims to optimize occupancy rates at its properties while addressing vacationers’ current concerns about budgeting.
