Emirates Bets on Privacy With Its Premium Economy Seat

A dining offer inspired by Business Class

Exotismes Bets on All-Inclusive and Flexible Travel

TAP Air Portugal

Exotismes confirms its trajectory and the strength of its model.

In 2025, the tour operator wrapped up a “good year” according to Gilbert Cisneros, president of Exotismes, during his traditional year-start briefing with the trade press. But he adds: “good, without being exceptional.”

The target remains the same: prioritize profitability over revenue. Operating income rose by 93.58% compared with the pre-COVID period, and EBITDA stood at €8.7 million in 2025. For reference, it was €9.3 million in 2024 and €9.8 million in 2023.

After the rebound from the health crisis and the “revenge travel” wave, the long-haul travel market returned in 2025 to a slower, more measured pace, notes the executive.

The French Antilles remain Exotismes’ number-one destination: Guadeloupe and Martinique accounting for 18% and 15% of revenue respectively. In the Top 5, the Dominican Republic is gaining ground and now represents 16% of revenue, catching up with Mauritius (16% as well). Réunion closes the ranking (15% of revenue).

For 2026, Gilbert Cisneros does not hide that geopolitical tremors in Venezuela and the Middle East conflict will have an impact on revenue and results, “but it will remain a profitable year,” he adds.

Beyond the general context, what dampens demand is also the rise in the average price, which has climbed 54% between 2020 and 2027.

“The Caribbean benefited from a pull-forward effect, however the increase in the average price slowed that momentum, notably in the family segment,” analyzes Didier Sylvestre, deputy CEO in charge of sales.

Maldives, Sri Lanka: how Exotismes chartered a special flight to repatriate clients

“Where we lost ground, in April, May and June, was at the entry-level prices, with fuel surcharges, as well as at the top end of the baskets, with the premium clientele, such as SME owners and executives, who had means and who told themselves: ‘We won’t go far, just in case something happens.’” continues Gilbert Cisneros, who notes that “what is lost is lost.”

In this economic environment, Exotismes is betting on all-inclusive packages. “We have reworked all our purchases across all axes and crafted a selection of products in an all-inclusive formula. It includes at a minimum: flights, transfers, accommodation, meals with drinks included,” details Sylvain Cisneros, managing director.

The Best of the Islands: an all-inclusive offer to manage the budget

This specific offering, named “The Best of the Islands,” benefits from a dedicated website and includes 80 products.

It features the tour operator’s best-sellers on destinations that have long offered this format in the Dominican Republic and Mexico’s Riviera Maya.

Also added are the Caribbean, Réunion, Polynesia, the Seychelles and Sri Lanka, “destinations not yet seasoned to this kind of formula.” (see boxed note below)

A offering that could be close to a club-style product?

“No,” answers Gilbert Cisneros, “this is not a Club formula and we do not want to create a ‘Club Canada Dry’ version.”

Launched in early August, Didier Sylvestre confirms that this new product “is well received on the ground with already some initial sales.”

The Serenity Guarantee for more flexibility

In response to geopolitical uncertainties, Exotismes launched on June 1, 2026, the Serenity Guarantee for clients booking a stay in Guadeloupe, Martinique or Réunion, a guarantee the tour operator intends to make lasting.

“In the face of the geopolitical environment, customers are anxious; we must reassure them in terms of price, on-site expenses, and ‘disengagement’. It is also a real selling point for travel agents,” summarizes Gilbert Cisneros.

This option guarantees the price paid at booking, regardless of any potential increases in fuel costs or exchange-rate fluctuations, and allows cancellation without fees and without justification up to 15 days before departure.

On another front, Exotismes continues to accelerate its use of AI, always in service of travel agents.

“We have a certain maturity in artificial intelligence. We have taken it out of day-to-day operations as such, with a mission: to make agents more autonomous. The tool allows automating certain tasks so that travel agents can devote more time to sales and to customer relationships,” explains Julien Cisneros, CEO who leads the technology service and the R&D department within Exotismes.

AI at the service of travel agents

Specifically, this translates into tools. AI-powered digital brochures allow selling day and night, on both smartphones and computers. Agencies benefit from a real CRM to follow up on quotes, and they can also generate QR Codes and connected storefronts, as well as create mini-sites.

In short: an augmented phygital journey boosted by AI tools.

“Replacing humans with AI is a mistake; we are betting more on the augmented travel agent,” stresses Julien Cisneros.

AI as a tool, yes, but what about the competing artificial intelligence used by travel agencies themselves?

“Travel is not a purchase like any other. Clients save all year to go on vacation. Buying a stay with AI does not value the person. Clients search online, on ChatGPT, but to finalize: they want a human, because AI somehow undermines the product’s aura,” analyzes Gilbert Cisneros.

The offering is, of course, not left behind. Exotismes continues to broaden its production with several new products in the Indian Ocean and the Caribbean.

Bordeaux Bets on Local Know-How to Attract Visitors

Costa Rica

The craft tourism sector continues to grow in France, and Bordeaux is determined to join this momentum.

The Bordeaux Métropole Tourism and Congress Office (OTCBM) and the Chamber of Trades and Crafts of Nouvelle-Aquitaine – Gironde (CMANA33) signed, on June 29, 2026, a partnership agreement aimed at promoting artisanal trades to both tourists and residents.

This collaboration seeks to make art founders of crafts integral players in the metropolitan tourism offer, while contributing to the territory’s economic and cultural stature.

Betting on a More Experiential Tourism

The development of craft tourism responds to evolving traveler expectations, with a pursuit of authentic and immersive experiences.

According to data from the Directorate General for Enterprises, this segment welcomed 22 million visitors in nearly 4,000 French businesses in 2024, reflecting a rise of more than 30% over five years.

For Bordeaux, this trend represents an opportunity to diversify its tourist offering by highlighting a living heritage composed of numerous workshops and artisan enterprises.

The agreement signed by Nathalie Laporte, president of the CMA Nouvelle-Aquitaine – Gironde, and Fabien Robert, president of the OTCBM, thus aims to strengthen the synergies between tourism and crafts around three objectives: better valorize artisan crafters, support their activity through promotional actions, and foster connections between tourism, culture and craft.

A Digital Map and New Tours

Among the first achievements is a digital map accessible on the Bordeaux Tourism site, listing about twenty artisanal craftspeople based in the metropolis. Visitors can locate the workshops and public spaces open to the public on it.

The tourism office is also expanding its guided tour program. Starting in September, a new tour titled “Behind the Scenes at the Philomathique” will allow visitors to discover the woodworking, fashion and furniture workshops of this arts-and-crafts school, with encounters between visitors, students and professionals.

Craftsmanship will also be more integrated into the circuits offered by tour guides. In Eysines, for example, visitors will now be able to meet the artisans of Artflo, based in the town since 2025.

The partnership also translates into a stronger presence of crafts in the reception areas of the tourism office. Its shop broadens its range with creations made by local artisans, including exclusive pieces designed by Bordeaux ceramists.

Shanti Travel Launches GIR 2027 Collection and Bets on a New Generation of Small-Group Travel

An Offering Now Structured into Three Ranges

© Tristan Scohy

CroisiEurope

To respond to this evolution, Shanti Travel is now structuring its offer around three distinct ranges to simplify the choice for travelers as well as for agencies.

The first, named Integrales, brings together major discovery itineraries. It covers the iconic Asian destinations with complete circuits designed for first-time discovery or for deeper exploration. Among the novelties is the program « Paths of Imperial China », a new addition entering the 2027 catalog and marking China’s return to the heart of the specialist’s offer. This range also includes itineraries in Japan, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Bali, and the Philippines.

The second range, Treks & Adventure, targets travelers who want to venture off the beaten path. From the high passes of Ladakh to the Torajan villages of Sulawesi, via the trails of Annapurna or the mythical cities along the Silk Road in Uzbekistan, these programs emphasize hiking, lesser-known regions, and on-the-ground experiences.

Finally, Shanti Travel inaugurates a third category dedicated to family travel. The first representative of this new range, Bali with Family, proposes an itinerary crafted with children in mind, featuring suitable activities and pacing designed so that both parents and children can fully enjoy the stay. Other destinations will enrich this collection in the coming seasons.

Small Groups of Manageable Size to Enhance Immersion

© Tristan Scohy

Beyond this new segmentation, the tour operator preserves what defines its GIR: groups limited to twelve participants maximum, with certain departures guaranteed with as few as two or four travelers depending on destinations, French-speaking local guides, including on trekking itineraries, as well as a Francophone support available before and during the trip.

This format allows for a more flexible approach to travel, access to more intimate accommodations, and fosters exchanges with local populations. Travelers also benefit from more personalized guidance throughout their stay.

“The Shanti Moments”, a throughline across all circuits

© Tristan Scohy

The 2027 collection also introduces a throughline named “The Shanti Moments”, present across all non-trekking circuits.

Four experiences punctuate the itineraries: a welcome meal to foster early exchanges among participants, a farewell dinner, an offbeat activity allowing the discovery of a lesser-known facet of the destination, and a high-impact experience carried out in partnership with an NGO or a local community.

The aim is to strengthen encounters, create a genuine group dynamic, and add meaning to travel by offering experiences that go beyond mere sightseeing.

A Response to Travelers’ Emerging Expectations

This evolution reflects a market-wide trend. Travelers no longer seek merely a well-constructed itinerary; they want to experience a collective journey while preserving a certain level of intimacy. The success of small groups hinges precisely on this balance between guidance, logistical comfort, and immersion.

With this 2027 collection, Shanti Travel aims to accompany this shift in expectations while reaffirming its long-standing Asia expertise. More than a simple catalog of circuits, this new offering expresses a commitment to providing journeys where meeting, sharing, and discovery hold as much importance as the sites visited.

Through this new organization and the arrival of new programs, the specialist thus confirms its ambition to make small-group travel a credible alternative between bespoke individual journeys and traditional tours, in a region of the world where cultural immersion remains one of the primary motivations for departure. Beyond exploring destinations, this format also fosters connections between travelers. Small groups naturally create a convivial dynamic, conducive to exchanges, sharing experiences, and, often, the birth of genuine friendships that endure long after return.

Hotels designed as living spaces

A hotel industry adapted to new uses

Logis Hotels Up 22% in May, Bets on a Dynamic Summer

The month of May 2026 proved exceptionally favorable for Logis Hotels. Driven by spring holidays and the growth of its premium brands, the company posted a 22% rise in turnover compared with the same period last year.

The long weekends had a positive effect, even if bookings tend to level off more than before“, explains Karine Morot-Gaudry, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the group. The leader also highlights the impact of expanding premium offerings on this growth.

In terms of destinations, several regions demonstrated notable performances. The Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region topped the chart with a 41% increase in turnover, followed by the Grand Est (+33%) and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (+30%).

This momentum is partly explained by travelers’ patterns during the long weekends. “Many guests favor getaways two to three hours from their home“, notes Karine Morot-Gaudry.

Foreign clientele also contributed to these solid results. Reservations from Germany rose by 33%, while those from Belgium climbed by 26%. A proximity-focused clientele that particularly benefits the eastern regions of France.

European Clientele on the Scene

If the business clientele paused during the early weeks of May due to numerous public holidays, the trend clearly reversed after the Pentecost weekend.

The backlog on the business segment has almost been caught up in the last week of May“, specifies Karine Morot-Gaudry. The arrangement of the last long weekend, with a public holiday Monday, notably favored the return of business travel.

The French market remains the main driver of summer growth with an 11% increase in bookings. European markets also show strong performance: the Netherlands up 25%, Germany 15%, Belgium 13% and the United Kingdom 12%.

According to the executive, these figures reflect both the attractiveness of southern France and the loyalty of traditional European markets.

Encouraging Summer Outlook

For the summer of 2026, Logis Hotels also expresses confidence. To date, bookings show a 16% rise compared with trends observed at the same point last year.

The South of France is at the heart of much of this momentum. Nouvelle-Aquitaine records a 29% increase in bookings, ahead of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (+24%). The Channel coast also rides this wave with a 22% rise.

Meanwhile, transit regions such as the Grand Est (+29%) and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (+28%) benefit from the expected influx of European clientele heading toward the southern destinations.

ITA Airways Launches Marseille–Rome Route and Bets on Its International Hub

CroisiEurope

ITA Airways continues its development in France. The Italian carrier inaugurated, on June 1, its new daily link between Marseille and Rome-Fiumicino, reinforcing both the offer to Italy and the possibilities of connections to its international network.

On this occasion, Fabio Monaco, the Consul General of Italy and Maxime Tommasini, president of the Italian Chamber of Commerce for France in Marseille, were present alongside Samy Addou, Country Manager France of ITA Airways, and representatives of Marseille Provence Airport, to celebrate this first flight.

A buffet, cake and goodies awaited the first passengers at boarding. The airline will operate one flight per day during the summer season until 30 September 2026.

The opening of this link by ITA Airways was close to our hearts. Italy is a historic market to which the Marseillais and the Marseille airport are particularly attached. Since its integration into the Lufthansa Group, ITA Airways had become the only group member still absent from our platform, while we already host Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Swiss, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings. Its arrival thus naturally completes the group’s presence in Marseille.” explains Julien Boullay, Commercial Director of Marseille Provence Airport.

Houston today, Santo Domingo tomorrow

The major value added by ITA Airways compared to other carriers already serving the Marseille-Rome link lies in its hub-connected connections. Travelers can thus access the entire Italian domestic network, the main European destinations, but also a long-haul network that has been strengthened in recent years. From Rome, it is possible to reach North America, South America, West Africa, Gulf countries, Asia, and even the Indian Ocean.” details Samy Addou.

The executive notes that the company launched the Rome-Houston link on May 1 and will continue expanding its network this winter with the opening of a new service to Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic.

The Rome-Houston route will move to five weekly frequencies from June to September. In Asia, ITA Airways will also increase its Rome-Bangkok service to five flights per week during August and operate the Rome-Delhi route on a daily basis.

In addition to Marseille, ITA Airways is also inaugurating two new seasonal routes to Rome-Fiumicino from Malaga and Valencia.

ITA strengthens its route between Nice and Rome

From France, ITA Airways operates in Paris (CDG and Orly) as well as in Nice, where the airline runs the Rome-Fiumicino service at three flights per day. “We will add a fourth flight starting July 1 and we will maintain our network from Paris, whether CDG or Orly, to Rome-Fiumeino and Milan-Linate.” specifies Samy Addou.

This strengthening of the flight schedule comes as the rapprochement between ITA Airways and Lufthansa continues.

Deutsche Lufthansa AG announced in mid-May 2026 its intention to raise its stake in ITA Airways from 41% to 90% as early as next June.

For the Country Manager France, these are good news: “This allows us to move forward, to develop in a number of aspects, whether it is the network with all the brands of the Lufthansa Group or the addition of new codeshare agreements. We have also joined Star Alliance since April 1, 2026, and that gives us access to more than 1,100 lounges worldwide.

The airline also benefits from the German group’s experience in deploying NDC since May 12. “This support has facilitated the implementation of the project and today enables ITA Airways to position itself on the new standards of air distribution.

With this new link, ITA Airways strengthens its foothold in the French market. Will there be further openings of routes to come? Samy Addou does not wish to say more at the moment: “For the rest of the development, we will keep you informed in due course.”
