GreenGo: Short Getaways Loved by Travelers This Summer

MSC Croisières

As autumn approaches, GreenGo presents an initial assessment of the summer season of 2026.

As of August 17, the platform’s data show a summer marked by short getaways, a certain stability in budgets, and an increased use of last-minute bookings.

According to these first figures, still partial and to be completed in early September after consolidating August bookings, couples account for 60.8% of bookings made on GreenGo this summer.

The average duration of stays reaches 2.9 nights, down 3% compared with the reference period. More than six stays out of ten (62.5%) are now between one and two nights.

This shift reflects a trend toward prioritizing several getaways over a single extended trip during the summer. The average budget stands at 367 euros per stay, a modest 1% decline. The median price reaches 112 euros per night, up 2%.

Bookings made shortly before departure are also on the rise. 34.2% of getaways were booked within the 14 days prior to arrival, confirming the weight of last-minute decisions in the observed summer behaviors.

L’Ardèche, les Côtes-d’Armor et le Finistère en tête

On the destination side, GreenGo’s ranking highlights three regions: Ardèche, Côtes-d’Armor, and Finistère.

These results fit with the platform’s positioning, launched commercially in 2021, which now lists more than 26,000 selected accommodations in French regions.

Gîtes, bed and breakfasts, cabins, unusual lodgings or even tiny houses make up its catalog.

GreenGo also reports 150,000 travelers since its launch, as well as an average rating of 4.8/5 based on more than 29,000 reviews analyzed continuously. The platform also notes having recorded more than 460,000 overnight stays.

GreenGo focuses on local travel and gentle mobility

Beyond the summer figures, GreenGo continues to develop an offering centered on local tourism and reducing the environmental footprint of stays.

The platform claims a deliberately tighter selection of its accommodations: fewer than 30% of candidate lodgings are intended to be listed. Each accommodation is evaluated according to a 113-criteria framework and undergoes an eco-score and a CO2 score calculation.

Since 2023, GreenGo has also developed mobility-related features. Its filter “car-free compatible” enables identifying accommodations reachable by train or public transport and offering activities feasible without a vehicle. The platform states it counts more than 1,500 hosts compatible, representing nearly 3,000 accommodations.

Its “Explore” engine also allows users to search for a destination based on the starting point, mode of transport, and the maximum desired travel time.

A France off the beaten tourist paths

To accompany this trend toward locally oriented travel, GreenGo also highlights its guide ‘The destinations you won’t find in guides’, devoted to less frequented territories.

The content offers three territories and nine stops, with walks, villages, natural spaces, recommended eateries, and addresses suggested by the hosts.

This approach aligns with GreenGo’s stated ambition since its creation: to promote discovery of French territories and to provide alternatives to the most visited tourist destinations.

The platform now intends to continue its development and has the ambition to become a European reference for local travel.

Three Cycling Getaways to the Loire’s Source

The upper reaches of the Loire, between Saône-et-Loire and Ardèche, wind through increasingly rugged terrain. The loops that depart from the river become more challenging if one wishes to keep elevation gains reasonable. Yet there are options to explore this upstream stretch of the Loire.

Three Cycling Getaways Along the Loire: Castles, Canals, and Wild Nature

By bicycle, the Loire slows down its pace. The royal river offers a playground of strikingly diverse character: here, the majestic silhouettes of Chambord and Sully-sur-Loire recall the grandeur of Renaissance castles; there, the locks, canal bridges, and towpaths tell another story, that of river navigation. Further south, the Loire and the Allier reveal a wilder face, with sandbanks, forests, and nature reserves.

From Blois to Chambord: a bike visit to the most royal of estates

A fairly short itinerary, where the Loire dresses in its finest attire. Leaving the Blois train station, you simply let yourself drift to reach the river. We follow it westward, then quickly branch toward Chailles and the Russy forest, which we traverse along a shaded avenue to Cellettes, on the Beuvron river. This village boasts a total of… 18 castles and manor houses! The Beauregard estate, famous for its Gallery of the Illustrious with 327 portraits of historical figures, is open to visits.

Getaways 2027 Brochure: Héliades Unveils Its New Offerings

TAP Air Portugal

On the occasion of the 2026 back-to-school period and as part of its participation in the IFTM Top Resa trade show, the travel operator Héliades unveils its Évasions 2027 program.

This edition introduces Barbados into its long-haul portfolio with a selection of four hotels (Bougainvillea Barbados 4*, Colony Club Luxury Collection Resort 5*, Fairmont Royal Pavilion 5* and O2 Beach Club & Spa 5*).

The company is simultaneously accelerating the digitization of its sales tools and preparing a redesign of its portal. Nicolas Ivaldi, CEO of Héliades, outlines the group’s strategic directions: “With this new Évasions 2027 brochure, we aimed to give Héliades a fresh momentum: more inspiration, greater diversity, and always the desire to take our clients on new types of journeys.

2027 will be an important year for Héliades. We will continue our development with a clear ambition: to remain a recognized specialist in Spanish-speaking long-haul destinations.

Strengthening the Dominican Republic and Americas Offer

A historic destination for the tour operator, the Dominican Republic sees its Héliades Signature offering enhanced with the arrival of the Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana (4* Superior), an adults-only property located in Cabeza de Toro. The catalog also includes the Eurostars Grand Cayacoa (5*) facing the Samaná Cayos, along with a total of 17 stays on the island.

On the American continent, Héliades maintains its Héliades Signature product in Mexico with the Dreams Jade Resort & Spa (5*) in Puerto Morelos.

The lineup is further enriched by a private tour circuit in Colombia linking Cartagena to Santa Marta, a catamaran cruise in the Bahamas (“Pearls of Exumas”), and an inter-island combination between Nassau and Eleuthera.

Cape Verde Links Strengthened and New European Itineraries Rolled Out

Across the Middle East and Africa, the tour operator renews its presence in Cape Verde with direct flights scheduled for the winter season from Paris, Bordeaux, Lyon, Nantes and Marseille.

The Sal island offering centers on two Héliades Clubs (Meliá Tortuga Beach Resort & Spa 5* and Riu Funana 5*), complemented by inter-island itineraries and yacht cruises.

In Europe and the Atlantic, the brochure includes new island combinations in the Canary Islands (“Lanzarote & Fuerteventura” and “Tenerife & Gran Canaria”), as well as two itinerant routes in Portugal in the format “Escape,” covering the Algarve region and the Lisbon-Porto urban pair.

Italy: 5 Off-the-Beaten-Path Getaways by the Sea, Lakes, and Mountains

Italy is not limited to its star destinations: here are five places to head out to sea, far from the most traveled routes.

Camogli, serenity a stone’s throw from Portofino

Life with your feet in the water. On the Ligurian coast, at the edge of the Gulf of Paradise, the town of Camogli unfurls its trompe-l’oeil façades, brightly painted, along a pebble beach bathed by the Ligurian Sea. It’s hard to believe that this haven sits fifteen kilometers northwest of the bustling Portofino, the area’s most frequented destination, with jet-set vibes and luxury yachts. Camogli, for its part, preserves a calmer atmosphere, animated by the ballet of its small community of artisanal fishermen.

Herculaneum, the other Pompeii

The site of Pompeii impresses with its enormity, but Herculaneum, a little farther north, also swallowed by the Vesuvian eruption in 79 CE, strikes visitors with its exceptionally well-preserved state. This is evidenced by the monumental fresco in the College of the Augustales (the priests of the Imperial cult), which depicts the duel between Hercules and Acheloüs to win the hand of the beautiful Deianira. A seaside town, it sheltered wealthy patrician houses, many of which, along with refined objects and mosaics, survived the catastrophe.

Orta, the Cinderella of the great lakes

In the shadow of its famous elder siblings, Lake Como and Lake Maggiore, which are grand and cosmopolitan, Lake Orta is small, modest, discreet… yet it possesses breathtaking beauty. This is why it is nicknamed Cenerentola, the Cinderella of the lakes. Just 400 meters from the shore of this Piedmont jewel rises the San Giulio Island (isola San Giulio), a rocky islet crowned with a millennial basilica and a Benedictine abbey. A path, the Via del Silenzio (“the Way of Silence”), winds across the island, lined with signs inviting meditation.

Porto Pino, Sardinia, but on the southern side

Forget the crowds of Costa Smeralda in northern Sardinia. Point your compass instead to the island’s southwest, where, about an hour and a half drive from Cagliari, Porto Pino reveals an astonishing tableau: wind-sculpted, monumental dunes of white sand, pale as powdered sugar, rising up to 20 meters, and drifting into turquoise waters. Here there is no flashy hotel complex, but ancient junipers and unspoiled wild nature. The Sardinian version of the edge of the world.

Abruzzo, a giant in the shadow of the Dolomites

The landscapes, spectacular, evoke those of the Dolomites’ hiking trails… minus the crowds. In the wild Abruzzo region (central Italy), flocks graze peacefully on vast high-altitude plateaus, dominated by the colossal silhouette of Gran Sasso, a massif of the Apennines with sheer limestone faces rising to 2,912 meters. The ultimate frontier of a mountainous and pastoral Italy.

A dream setting for lovers…

With its 118 islands spread across five archipelagos, Polynesia offers an exceptionally diverse range of atmospheres: from the understated luxury of an overwater bungalow in Bora Bora to the warm simplicity of a lagoonfront guesthouse in Huahine or Raiatea.

Each island cultivates its own charm:

  • Bora Bora, the ultimate romantic icon, for its turquoise waters, spectacular sunsets, and open-air spas.

  • Taha’a, the vanilla island, for its soft scents and secluded lagoons.

  • Rangiroa or Tikehau, for adventurous lovers seeking a remote corner of the world.

  • Moorea, with its emerald mountains and coves perfect for two-person kayak escapades…
