Egypt: Bookings Rebound, but Travel Professionals Remain Cautious

MSC Croisières

Is Egypt potentially emerging from the dip caused by the Middle East conflict?

After several months in the red, bookings are rising again according to the latest figures from the EDV-Orchestra barometer.

In August 2026, the number of bookings for Egypt increases by 21.1% compared to August 2025. An acceleration after a +4.8% in July, while the destination still posted significant declines in spring: -5.5% in June, -34.2% in May, -42.6% in April and -66.8% in March.

The year had started well. Order intake showed gains of +50.3% and +17.7% respectively in January and February 2026, still according to the barometer.

The destination’s visitor numbers were also in positive territory.

After reaching the record threshold of 19 million in 2025, international arrivals rose a further 4% from January to the end of May 2026 (vs the same period in 2025), according to the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

The number of French tourists posted an even stronger rise. Already up 31% for the entire 2025, they also recorded an increase of 22% between January and the end of May 2026 (vs the same period in 2025).

An end-of-year with last-minute sales?

Data that does not reflect the spring booking standstill, as trips were already booked.

« Sales are anticipated a bit more than for other destinations. They were therefore already secured and there were no cancellations. April thus proceeded normally, departures were full. Groups for March, April, May and June, which are key periods for this activity, were arranged without any issue », explains Bruno Abenin, Commercial Director of Travel Evasion.

« Egypt has never been directly involved in the conflict » recalls Gonzague de Gélis, president of the Kuoni France Group. « We did not cancel any departures; it was bookings that were halted. It stopped completely in March, April, May and June; then bookings slowly picked up in June, we were at -50% versus June 2025. After that, things picked up in July, with an acceleration in August », he sums up.

Gonzague de Gélis mentions a 60% rise in August bookings compared to last year, a year that was already considered good.

For these bookings made in August, the tour operator notes strong momentum for upcoming departures: +40% for 2027 departures and +100% for 2026 last-minute departures. « It is the destination that is showing the strongest growth in August » he adds.

A rebound, but professionals remain cautious

At Mondial Tourisme, Selatt Erdogan also confirms the restart, but puts it in perspective: « Yes, there is a rebound, it is indeed there, but we remain below our objectives. »

The tour operator believes in the destination and therefore expands his lineup with a new seven-night combo named “Treasures of the Nile to the Pyramids of Cairo“.

The product couples a Cairo discovery with a Nile cruise, in a shorter format than the nine-night combo “Pyramids to the Red Sea“.

At Travel Evasion, Bruno Abenin remains cautious too. For him, the year is “good,” though it could have been “excellent” after the successive impacts of March, April, May and June.

Looking at the current fiscal year ending in late September, the specialist estimates that Egypt activity should still grow by 14 to 16%. « We are riding the very strong activity we saw in Autumn 2025. July-August, which are not big sales months, are tracking the same as last year. The summer was driven by last-minute sales with still available capacities.

But we must be cautious with the figures: if we go from 2 to 4 bookings that is a 100% increase, and yet it remains small… Major deals will start next week, with our main distribution partners,
» he details.

He is counting on the upcoming holidays: « We are betting on putting quite a few seats back on sale for the All Saints’ holidays. Typically, at this time, order books are full.

Here, we have specifically restocked: we have added air capacity on the two All Saints departures, notably for the Nile cruise. We are betting on selling it now, last minute.
»

As for Cyrille Fradin, president of the Karavel-FRAM-Promovacances group, he, too, remains prudent. While he acknowledges the improvement in July and August, he notes it came after a period when sales were almost at a standstill. « We started from such a low base », he recalls.

The Grand Egyptian Museum of Cairo, an extra showcase for the destination

Recalling the strong sensitivity of Egyptian sales to the evolution of the geopolitical context, he adds: « Egypt actually lives at the pace of Iran ».

According to him, every new alert concerning the Iran-U.S. conflict or the Strait of Hormuz can immediately have commercial consequences for the destination, even if Egypt is not directly touched.

The true resilience indicator will be Egypt’s ability to sustain its momentum over time, he believes.

« Where I think we can really pause to say there is resilience is when, after these few shocks, we truly see it materialize and endure over time. At that moment, we could start talking about a recovery, but right now it seems a little early… »

Nevertheless, Egypt has an asset that few destinations can claim: an exceptional historical and cultural heritage, now complemented by the Grand Egyptian Museum of Cairo.

Open since November 2025, this new site provides an additional selling point for professionals, enriching an offering already anchored by the pyramids, temples, Nile cruises and Red Sea beach stays. A factor that reinforces Egypt’s status as a destination apart.

Jans Tours Invites Travel Professionals to IFTM 2026 to Shape Tomorrow’s Travel Across Four Destinations

IFTM: three days to reconnect and prepare for 2027

A few weeks ahead of IFTM Top Resa, Jans Tours is gearing up to reconnect with its partners and tourism professionals for three days of meetings and exchanges.

For the receptive side, the trade show provides a privileged moment to take time to discuss upcoming projects, present new offerings, and share the latest inspirations from local teams.

As journeys for 2027 are already being planned, traveler expectations are evolving too: more personalization, new experiences, itineraries that depart from the classics, lesser-known addresses, and programs tailored to specific clienteles — topics that can be discussed directly with Jans Tours teams.

The objective is simple: to engage with professionals, understand their needs and collaboratively build the upcoming journeys for their clients.

Four destinations, four ways of traveling

This year, Jans Tours arrives at IFTM with four destinations to present to industry professionals: Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Switzerland.

Four distinct realms, but a single approach: a strong local presence and teams that know their destinations from the inside out.

Indonesia remains at the heart of Jans Tours’ DNA. Bali, Java, Lombok, Sumatra, Komodo—these regions enable the creation of very diverse journeys, from a first-time visit to Indonesia to more hidden itineraries and tailored experiences.

In the Philippines, the team also guides professionals in building programs that blend islands, beaches, nature, encounters, and local experiences. A destination still full of opportunities to move beyond the most classical itineraries.

Malaysia continues to grow within the group. With its office in Kuala Lumpur, Jans Tours can rely on a locally based team to design programs aligned with travelers’ expectations and the needs of professionals.

And then, there is Switzerland.

A new destination joins the Jans Tours family

It’s one of the major novelties of this 2026 edition: Jans Tours expands its playing field with the opening of its office in Switzerland.

After Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia, this new presence marks another milestone in the group’s development.

Jans Tours Switzerland is now fully operational on the ground and completes Jans Tours’ international network.

The destination opens up new possibilities for professionals: individual trips, group departures, incentives, premium stays, or tailor-made itineraries can be crafted around Switzerland’s diverse landscapes and experiences.

From the Alps to the lakes, cities to villages, gastronomy to scenic railway experiences, Switzerland offers a particularly rich playground for designing bespoke programs.

And above all, as with its Asian destinations, Jans Tours relies on local knowledge and close relationships with professionals.

So, even if the Jans Tours stand is located in the Asia space, Swiss projects are, of course, welcome!

An international team gathered in Paris

For this edition of IFTM, several Jans Tours team members will travel to Paris.

Anthony, Audrey, Eva and Lucie from the France office will be on hand to welcome professionals and discuss their projects.

Also present will be Geoffrey, Rudi and Benjamin, directly from the Indonesia office, as well as Sylvain, representing the Malaysia office.

An international team that will allow visitors to meet both their usual contacts in France and the teams based directly at the destinations.

Because this is also Jans Tours’ hallmark: behind every program there are local teams who know the ground realities, partners, new offerings, and experiences truly worth presenting to travelers. There is also a France-based office, with dedicated contacts, enabling French-language exchanges and close, on-site support, without time-zone constraints.

IFTM will thus be an opportunity to (re)put faces to these teams, and to take time to discuss beyond emails and quote requests.

Malaysia featured at a second pavilion

Jans Tours will also be present at the pavilion of the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, stand A014.

A complementary presence that will allow professionals to come and discuss the destination, its novelties, and programming possibilities.

Malaysia indeed offers numerous options for building journeys that combine major highlights with more intimate experiences. With its local team based in Kuala Lumpur, Jans Tours continues developing this destination with agencies and tour operators.

Professionals will therefore be able to find Jans Tours at two different spots in the show, depending on their needs and projects.

Gig Tripping: The Musical Journey That Inspires Music Professionals

TAP Air Portugal

« Hello, sorry, thank you » … No, do not read these three words as a personal message! This is the title of Céline Dion’s new single, released on July 3rd.

On the same day, another icon of music released her new album; namely Madonna who, at 67, proves she can still make the dance floors vibrate.

Two international stars, two novelties… and concerts in cascade? It’s already certain for Céline Dion who promises to set the Paris La Défense Arena on fire from September 12.

To welcome the Quebecoise singer and prepare for a media overdose, the largest venue in Europe is dressed in new colors. Since July 1, it has been called Plenitude Arena, named after the energy-transition subsidiary of the Italian group Eni.

Giant concerts… and tens of thousands of tourists

For Madonna, the uncertainty persists… But the star should leverage her new opus to organize a massive tour. Fans already have ants in their fingers, ready to tap away for hours on their keyboards to snag a ticket…

The last time Madonna visited France was in November 2023 to celebrate 40 years of her career, with four Bercy shows sold out and attendees still talking about it…

Bercy… or rather the Accor Arena. By naming the eastern Paris venue several years ago, the hotel group understood the value of associating its image with the world-renowned venue ranked the second-best concert venue in the world, after New York’s Madison Square Garden.

It also takes the opportunity to fill its hotels that line the Arena with each new event. Because these giant tours now generate tens of thousands of travelers.

The concert becomes a pretext for travel

What marketing specialists, always quick to invent new expressions, call the gig tripping (gig meaning concert in musical jargon). Understand this travel trend where fans cross the planet to see their favorite artist perform live.

They turn a concert into the pretext for a trip, adding a train or plane ticket, one or more nights in hotels, and experiences. According to a Skyscanner study, about 60 % of travelers, especially Generation Z, say they are willing to travel abroad to attend a concert or festival.

The payoffs are gigantic, for tourism professionals but also for destinations. Paris hasn’t missed the boat, becoming one of the world capitals of this new “musical tourism.” To the point of offering the Eiffel Tower as a giant advertising backdrop to announce Céline Dion’s return to the stage… With worldwide buzz guaranteed!

No (yet) dynamic pricing for tickets

Already in 2024, Taylor Swift’s series of Paris concerts set the tone. And last year, Beyoncé’s three shows at the Stade de France sealed the deal. Paris was the only European city, with London, to host the American star.

All of Europe, but also Americans, Brazilians or Japanese, then flooded France. Of the 215,000 spectators across the three shows, 100,000 were foreigners.

With a major advantage for France: dynamic pricing – now the norm in air travel, hotels and now theme parks – is not yet in place in France for ticketing, where it exists abroad.

Result: it costs less for a New Yorker to come spend three days in Paris (ticket, flight and hotel nights included) than to buy a simple seat to watch their favorite star in person in the United States.

Live Nation, nouvelle star de l’Hexagone

Les festivals dopent le tourisme en région

If Paris takes the gold, other regional metropolises are also getting into the game.

The stakes are high as in 2024, live music—“live” events (shows, concerts, festivals)—drew 37.9 million spectators in France and generated 1.6 billion euros in ticket revenue (+117% in ten years).

Beyond tours (national and sometimes international) in Arenas and stadiums, from Marseille to Lille and from Lyon to Montpellier, festivals are a major concern for the regions.

Among the stars, the Printemps de Bourges, the Vieilles Charrues Festival (Brittany), Hellfest (Pays de la Loire) or the Francofolies of La Rochelle are reliable bets, with 200 to 300 thousand visitors for each.

Un secteur fragilisé depuis deux ans

In other musical domains, Jazz In Marciac (Gers) or the Festival Interceltique de Lorient also attract enthusiasts and contribute to the tourist development of the territories.

But while giant concerts are buoyed by favorable winds, the festival sector (1,356 paid festivals in 2024) shows vulnerabilities over the past two years, between rising costs (security, more “greedy” artists…) and the withdrawal of subsidies.

Not to mention climatic risks, such as the heatwave at the end of June which forced the cancellation of several major events across France, including Solidays in Paris.

Un nouveau marché pour les agences ?

It remains for professionals to own this cultural offering, which could become a growth driver; to imagine a short break in a European metropolis or to better promote France. The major platforms are in the starting blocks…

For a long time, some coach companies have organized day trips by coach to attend concerts. For instance, Voyages Girardot which, this week, offers packages (ticket, transport and possibly hotel) for The Weeknd’s concerts at the Stade de France.

Now, a few tour operators have made it their specialty. Thus OnTours (based in Dole) which markets bus + concert packages for concerts (Indochine, Muse, AC/DC…) and festivals, including abroad such as Dour in Belgium or Sziget in Budapest.

Very rare seats !

Meanwhile, Eventeam (the official hospitality agency at the Stade de France) offers a VIP approach (privileged access, shared box seating, catering…), for instance to applaud the rapper PKL or the American star Jay-Z.

In a context of ticketing concentration among a few global players like Ticketmaster, the difficulty of accessing tickets in large numbers remains.

Thus, for Céline Dion’s Paris concert series, OnTours notes on its website that it has not received an agreement for ticket sales. It simply offers hotel-only options, near the Arena. You still have to manage to snag a seat; a mission almost… impossible!

LATAM Airlines: Global Sales Support Excellence for Travel Professionals

© LATAM Airlines

Costa Rica

To accompany its distribution partners, the company relies on a highly specialized structure: the Global Sales Support (Global Sales Support – GSS) team. This tailor-made service is entirely dedicated to assisting travel agencies across all segments (leisure, business, online) as well as companies affiliated with the LATAM Corporate program, thereby ensuring efficient and borderless commercial connectivity.

A Multilingual Infrastructure and International Expertise

One of LATAM Airlines’ Global Sales Support’s major strengths lies in its international dimension and its ability to adapt culturally. The GSS team handles an impressive annual volume of more than 1.5 million requests worldwide. To offer a smooth and personable experience, the service is structured to respond in six key languages: French, Spanish, English, Portuguese, German, and Italian.

For Europe, and especially for the French market, service hours are perfectly aligned with the rhythms of local agencies. French-language support is available Monday through Friday, from 9:00 to 17:00, ensuring optimal responsiveness during business hours. Beyond these time slots or for absolute operational emergencies, the global channels take over to guarantee business continuity on a global scale.

360° Support: The Pillars of LATAM Airlines Support

The GSS service offering has been segmented to address with precision each type of issue encountered by travel agents. It revolves around four major areas of intervention :

1. Operational and Technical Support. This pillar forms the core of daily assistance. GSS advisors accompany agents through complex technical steps such as fare calculation (public or private fares), ticket reissuance procedures, and the association of electronic EMD documents for ancillary services, notably seat selection and baggage. Additionally, this unit handles requests for special services essential for passenger comfort, such as Unaccompanied Minor assistance (UMNR), or the carriage of pets in cabin (PETC) and in the hold (AVIH).

2. NDC Support by LATAM Airlines. In the era of digital transformation, LATAM Airlines positions itself at the technological forefront with its own NDC ecosystem. The GSS support offers specialized assistance for all requests related to issuances and redemptions via this platform. Whether it is voluntary changes or involuntary reissues following itinerary changes, the team also manages specific commercial exceptions (such as proposals to change airports for affected passengers), enabling agencies to navigate this new technological environment with ease.

3. Commercial and After-Sales Support. Profitability and administrative management of travel agencies are also central priorities for LATAM Airlines. The GSS support acts as a facilitator in resolving disputes related to Debit Memos (ADM). It is also responsible for applying commercial flexibility policies (pre-sale waivers) and discounts directly via the Latam Trade portal. Agents can request handling of refunds and the creation of user accounts in the private space.

4. Group Management. For group travel, Series and Charter Flights LATAM Airlines offers robust solutions for groups of at least 10 passengers sharing the same itinerary, whether for corporate or leisure purposes. The GSS offers two negotiation formats: ad-hoc groups, and the “AD HOC Series” for off-schedule requests. For large-scale projects, the Charter service manages the entire operational chain: PNR creation, invoicing, integration of name lists, issuance of the Master Ticket, and transmission of manifests to airport authorities.

Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas Completes Its Maiden Mediterranean Cruise, Impressing Industry Professionals

© Royal Caribbean

CroisiEurope

Design and Vacation Ecosystem

© Royal Caribbean

Music, Shows and Exceptional Performances

© Royal Caribbean

A Benchmark for ‘New Generation’ Cruises

France-Vietnam Cooperation: Hanoi Seeks to Attract French Tourism Professionals

CroisiEurope

More than 276,000 French visitors explored the streets of Hanoi in 2025, marking a spectacular 32% increase in a single year.

Building on this momentum, the City of Hanoi plans to take advantage of its visit to Paris to present to French stakeholders the full range of cooperation opportunities offered by the capital.

Coordinated with the support of VNCT (Vietnam Culture & Tourism in Europe Association), this meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Artemis Hall in the Batignolles Space, located at 18 Rue de la Condamine in Paris’s 17th arrondissement.

The event is primarily aimed at tour operators, travel agencies, tourism professionals, airlines, companies, investors, institutional bodies, and specialized journalists.

It should provide a platform to address investment, trade and sustainable development opportunities alongside leading speakers, notably Mr. Nguyễn Ánh Dương, Vice-Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, Mr. Nguyễn Trần Quang, Vice-Director of Hanoi’s Department of Tourism, and Ms. Lê Y Linh, President of VNCT in France.

The delegation aims to place this event within the continuity of a decentralized cooperation that is already rich and long-standing, conducted notably with Paris, the Île-de-France Region, Toulouse, and other French institutional partners.

Targeted opportunities and direct exchanges with the delegation

On this occasion, Hanoi seeks to better showcase the diversity and richness of its offerings: its historical heritage, its renowned Old Quarter, its remarkable architecture, its cuisine, its traditional craft villages, as well as its cultural tourism and new urban experiences.

Positioning itself as a capital that is both heritage-rich, modern, innovative, and sustainable, the city aims to attract more French partners in strategic areas for its future.

Because beyond the development of trade and investments, the challenge is to intensify tourist flows in both directions.

The partnership opportunities particularly cover urban infrastructures, transportation, logistics, ecological transition, new technologies, creative industries, as well as high-quality agri-food sectors.

An ambition that also fits within the framework of the city’s new investment promotion campaign unveiled in July, which foresees new incentive mechanisms and announces hundreds of investment projects.

This initiative relies on an unprecedented master plan with a 100-year projected development vision, aimed at speeding up the digital transition and materializing about fifty strategic agreements, notably on green and sustainable transport.

A program paced between official briefings and networking

Designed to foster operational contacts and partnerships between actors from the two countries, the event will unfold around two main moments:

  • 5:00 PM – 5:15 PM: Welcome of participants at Espace Batignolles.

  • 5:15 PM – 6:15 PM: Official opening sequence, presentation of the Hanoi delegation, remarks by institutional representatives and a detailed briefing on the investment environment, economic activities and the capital’s tourist potential.

  • 6:15 PM – 7:30 PM: Networking and B2B exchange session to discuss concrete cooperation prospects, accompanied by a presentation of Vietnamese gastronomy and a professional cocktail.

Creation of the First Barometer for Independent Tourism Professionals

CroisiEurope

There are still blind spots in sector barometers.

That of Entreprises du Voyage, based on Orchestra data, omits sales of tailor-made trips made with inbound operators or built by stacking services.

These gaps are gradually being filled, for example thanks to data provided by Civitatis.

To reflect the industry more accurately, Travel Force, in partnership with IFTM, launches the first Barometer of tourism independents.

Independents are everywhere in tourism, but nowhere in the figures.

We talk about them, we work with them, but no one had ever really listened to them on a national scale. This barometer finally gives them a statistical presence and the more responses there are, the more their voice will be heard
“, announces Olivier Charmes, president of the consulting and operational reinforcement agency.

Barometer of tourism independents: questionnaire open until end of July

To carry out this barometer, a questionnaire has been posted online.

It consists of several questions and takes between five and six minutes. It aims to establish an unprecedented snapshot of the market for tourism independents in 2025, based on practices, revenues and existing models, and then to reveal the real on-the-ground issues.

To participate in the barometer, click here.

Independent tourism professionals can respond until July 31, 2026, for an activity analysis covering January 1 to December 31, 2025.

After that, the responses will be analyzed and anonymized. No ranking will be established, but an overview of these players will be drawn.

The consolidated results of the study will be available at the IFTM trade show, during a conference on September 17 at 2:30 PM, in room Agora.

The overarching theme of this edition of IFTM is to reveal the value created by travel, and independents contribute a crucial, often invisible, portion of that value in daily life. Welcoming the presentation of this first barometer was an obvious step: it provides the entire industry with data that were missing to understand these professionals and to work with them,” Marie Allantaz, editorial director and strategic management at IFTM.

Among independents, we find consultants, travel planners, trainers, content creators, guides, business introducers, journalists, outsourced salespeople, industry experts…

Holidays in Gironde: Tourism Professionals Reassure Tourists Despite Fires

“The Gironde is big, very big” : as mass evacuations and cancellations of bookings due to the fires unfold, tourism professionals hope to salvage the rest of the season in this vast department, where the forest does not burn everywhere.

“I urge tourists not to come, not to join the Gironde”, said on Sunday the department’s prefect Sophie Brocas, also inviting “the tourists present to consider another destination”.

Major losses for tourism

About 220,000 people, including holidaymakers, have already been evacuated in recent days from several Gironde towns, especially popular seaside resorts at this time of year such as Lège-Cac-Ferret. “It’s a crushing blow to a large part of the department that is mainly touristic; tourism is completely halted, it’s the end of the season”, says Patrick Seguin, president of the Gironde Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI).

Nevertheless, “The Gironde is big, very big”, reminds AFP the president of the Union of Trades and Industries of the Hotel Industry (UMIH) Gironde, Franck Chaumès. “This comes from a good intention”, the prefect made this announcement “to give road routes easily accessible to firefighters and authorities” but “we hope it will be rectified” to “try to save the month of August”, he adds.

Claire Bigat, who lives in Lille and had planned two weeks of vacation in Andernos, between Biscarrosse and Lège-Cap-Ferret, “given the circumstances”, “does not want to go”. “Access seems uncertain, we have seen the authorities’ instructions and we do not want to clog the roads. Besides, our son is asthmatic, we cannot be in the smoke, and if it is to spend a vacation of desolation because everything has burned, it’s not worth it”, she tells AFP.

At Bordeaux train station, Francine Chauvirey, 76, who was spending holidays at her son’s, anticipated her return to Paris. “I had trouble breathing because of the smoke, so we changed my train ticket”, she confides to the AFP, her face protected by an FFP2 mask. Vila, a 32-year-old painter, likewise shortened his trip to Bordeaux to return home to Finland, “because of the fires”.

Tourism accounts for 7% of the department’s GDP, more than 40,000 jobs and 3.2 billion euros in direct spillovers, according to the department’s site.

“On the Cap Ferret peninsula, there are 100% losses since everyone has been evacuated”, according to Franck Chaumès. This concerns “around a hundred establishments: hotels, bars, restaurants, nightclubs” and “two campsites out of ten have burned”.

In the 22 other evacuated municipalities, commerce “is at a standstill” as well. “And there are also the Landes, he adds. Nearly 40,000 holidaymakers, staying in 45 campsites in Gironde and Landes, have been evacuated so far, said Sunday to AFP Nicolas Dayot, president of the National Federation of Outdoor Hospitality (FNHPA).

Cancellations far beyond the areas affected by the fires

The evacuated zones are not the only ones seeing departures. “We have cancellations at the other end of Gironde: in Médoc, Libournais which is 70 km from Cap Ferret… It’s a catastrophe”, laments Franck Chaumès of UMIH Gironde.

A view shared by the co-chair of the Saint-Émilion tourism office, Jean-Daniel Debart, who says, “of course we must clear the roads but we must adopt more nuanced statements because not all of Gironde is affected”. “In Saint-Émilion, we are more than 80 km from the fires, this is not the Arcachon Basin”, he tells AFP. He laments that there are already “dozens of cancellations” including for August and beyond, with, for example, an “cancellation of a group that was due to come in September”, and dozens of refund requests.

One can “do oenotourism in the vineyards”, acknowledges Patrick Seguin of the CCI, “but given what French and foreign tourists see in the media, it does not tempt them to come”.
